Quite a few videos from the past two shows are up on youtube now. Brian definitely seems a bit more "on" this tour than he did with Jeff Beck.

links? I'm having a hard time finding them

From Blondie's Facebook:

I like the stage design. What does it look like in full?

To sum it up, they blew it, they blew it consistently, they continue to blow it, it is tragic and this pathological problem caused The Beach Boys' greatest music to be so underrated by the general public.

That was the most satisfying BW show i've seen in years! First off, I really like Rodriguez and what a great choice for an opening act... I love "Crucify Your Mind" and his humble, hilarious patter won over the crowd. Two survivors on tour together! I approve.

I knew immediately when BW came out all full of energy about a "hot show" that it would be special. No withdrawn Wilson, no Foskett covering for him,  no Al acting as MC. BW was in command, exuberant, playing his Yamaha constantly and asking the men and women to scream three times! His real smile came out to play, and what a difference that makes.

The band was rehearsed, telepathic, and having a ball goofing around. Scott Bennett gets MVP, and extra points for getting the well-heeled, predominately gray audience on their feet. After the quiet, low key Rodriguez set it was incredible seeing them churn out hit after hit mixed seemlessly with new songs and stuff like "Busy Doin' Nothin'" which I have been dying to hear live. Probyn juggling guitar, melodica, and trombone on "Wake the World" was ace!

Blondie Chaplin! What an addition to the band, adding such power and style. Keep him on stage longer, I say. "The real stuff," as Von Mertens said. Dual Jardines in the harmony stack blended in so fantastically, this is bar none the best band lineup they've had and a real treat for Beach Boys fans.

When Brian said the words "Leonard Bernstein," my head exploded a bit. It's been a long time since the SMiLE tour and this song belongs in the setlists... While the Beck version was fun, this is how I want to hear Surf's  Up! Those on the fence about the tour, hock your kidney and go. It's worth it! Who needs kidneys anyway.

Brian mentioned Lenny? Nice!  Smiley

Got my tickets for next Friday's Atlanta show at the Fox; wonderful venue--just saw Dylan there in April.

2nd time seeing Brian; 1st show was the Beck tour. Looking forward to a more standard set (though a surprise "Pet Sounds" show wouldn't hurt!)

Did Al sing his part on the tag of Surf's Up?
Brian sang that part, and it looked like Al was quietly doubling it at times. Brian was much more prominent on that part. I was looking forward to Al singing it, but that's a minor quibble.

Al should be singing Wouldn't It Be Nice!  He did a fantastic job with it on the C50 tour so on the Jeff Beck tour, I was disappointed when Jeff Foskett sang lead on it, it was nowhere near as good as how Al sings it.  He absolutely kills with it on the Venetian DVD.  I haven't heard Matt sing it though.

I agree Al should sing it. Here's Matt on lead from last night though, sounds great, and Brian's good as well on the "Mike" part: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sqa4bJ3E79k

Matt has always sounded great singing WIBN. But yeah, Al sounded REALLY good singing it on the Venetian Blu-ray.

I think both Jardines do a great job singing WIBN. Did Matt play the kettledrum part at the end?

That rendition of SOS was great! I am so looking forward to Friday's show.

BTW, the Atlanta newspaper finally mentioned the Fox show, one week out. Oh, well...

I went to the show tonight. Brian said to the audience "I'm glad you all came dressed up tonight. You have very nice shirts."

Also, I got a bone to pick. I'm mad, but I ain't stressin'. Sebu, I'm already putting up with so much with that beard of yours,  and if you continue to change the melody to "Don't Worry Baby," we're gonna throw down.

Set list? Differences from the two previous shows?

Can't say for sure about the set list, as I haven't seen any of the full list for any prior show, but it seems consistent. I guess Sebu was the difference - he sang "Runaway Dancer" and "Don't Worry Baby". I have to agree with what people have been saying about Brian: he seemed to be in a really great mood. It was fun to watch.

I thought Rodriguez was pretty uninteresting as an opener.
