May 14 and 15 1964-The BBs made appearances in Houston (their second app there) and Dallas (their first app there). The Dallas show also featured The Jades, The Marksmen, Kirby St. Romaine, Bob Hayden and Scotty McKay. May 14 and 15 1965 the BBs performed at the Boston Arena and the New Haven Arena with Glen Campbell.  These were Glen’s last appearances as a member of the BBs, as Bruce took over full time after this.  Following these shows the BBs headed to NY to tape the Ed Sullivan show (with Brian who’d flown in)-but the show went long and they did not appear. Oddly, the appearance was not rescheduled and the group didn’t appear on the “Big Shoo” again till 1968.  May 14 1966 the BBs played at the Milwaukee Arena with the Chieftones and The Sir Douglas Quintet. They were scheduled to perform at the Memorial Stadium in Terre Haute, Indiana on May 15 1966 but the concert was canceled-allegedly because Dennis got sick. May 14 1967 the BBs flew from Finland to Holland to appear on the Fan Club TV Show in Amsterdam.  They also gave a long interview to a journalist from Hit Week Magazine, which I quote from at length in my book. They spent the next day in Paris (though the concert they’d planned to play there was canceled due to problems with work permits). May 15 1969 a mixing session was held for “Celebrate the News” which was released as B-side to “Breakaway.” May 14 1970 the BBs taped an appearance on The Tommy Leonetti TV Show in Sydney, Australia. Perhaps at the request of the producer, they opted to play the oldies-Barbara Ann, I Get Around and Graduation Day. May 14 1973 the BBs played at Massachusetts State College in Framingham with Blondie and Ricky.  May 14 1974 the BBs played at Western Illinois University in Macomb. The next day they performed at the Municipal Auditorium in Kansas City with Henry Gross.  Ricky was still drumming on this tour but Blondie was long gone.  May 14 1978 the BBs played at the University of Northern Iowa Dome in Cedar Falls, Iowa with Brian.  May 14 1979 the BBs appeared at the Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale, New York. Brian sang “Roller Skating Child” on this tour. The next day they played at the Civic Center in Springfield, MA. I believe both of these shows are available to hear online legally. May 15 1981 the BBs played at Anaheim Stadium, after a Soccer game.  Carl was not there. May 14 and 15 1982 the BBs played the Ector County Coliseum in Odessa, Texas and the Freeman Coliseum Grounds in San Antonio, with Jerry Jeff Walker and Flash Cadillac. Carl was back in the band by this time. May 15 1988 the BBs played at Arlington Stadium after a Texas Rangers baseball game.  May 14 and 15 1990 the BBs appeared at the The Summit in Houston and the Will Rogers Theatre in Fort Worth. May 14 and 15 1996 the BBs worked on Stars and Stripes with Brian in Nashville.  May 14 and 15 1998 Mike and “the California Beach Band”-as the Mike and Bruce band were temporarily being billed till the licensing agreement was worked out-played at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Hong Kong and the World Trade Center in Manila, Philippines with America.  May 14 and 15 1999 the Mike and Bruce band played at Oak Mountain Amphitheater in Alabama and Chastain Park in Atlanta, Georgia.  Also on May 15 the BB Family and Friends played at Willow Grove, Philadelphia.  May 14 2000 Mike and Bruce played the Fred Kavli Theatre in Thousand Oaks, CA.  May 14 and 15 2001-Mike and Bruce played in Rahway, NJ and at Six Flags New England.  May 15 2008 Mike and Bruce were in Edinburgh, Scotland.  May 14 and 15 2009-Mike and Bruce played shows in Illinois (Peoria and Effingham).  The following year they were performing both nights at the River Rock Casino in British Columbia, Canada.  May 15 2011 Brian was in London to promote the Gershwin CD on Jools Holland’s TV Show.  May 15 2012 the reunited BBs played at the Westchester County Center in White Plains NY.  May 15 2015 Mike and Bruce played a date in Tallahassee, Florida.  Mike and Bruce are playing shows in Kansas City and Des Moines this weekend while Brian is scheduled to play in Bristol on his UK tour tomorrow.

I never knew they were supposed to play on the Ed Sullivan Show in 1965.  I had always wondered why they didn't make an appearance until 1968 when their popularity was pretty low.  Now it makes sense, but still odd that they didn't reschedule.  Do you have any idea what they were going to play?  I would guess Help Me, Rhonda since it was just released.

Unrelated, but I noticed something weird in Bellagio.  Do You Wanna Dance goes from 12 to 21 one week, then completely falls off the chart the week after.  Is that an error?  Seems weird that it would drop so far in just one week.
