Hey everybody, I thought some of you who have been following the "Music of Carl and Dennis Wilson" tour might be interested in knowing a little bit about the tour's culmination last night.

The Chaos Band and Alan Boyd put on what will probably be the last show featuring the "little" Wilson's music, and it was all taped by Mark Linett for posterity.

It was a really special night, as many people that were close to Carl and Dennis were there to remember and experience the great songs of their old friends.  It was really touching knowing that some people that some of the songs were written for (or with) were in the audience.  And of course it's a real pleasure to hear songs you'd never imagine you'd hear live not only actually played live, but played very well.

So, stay tuned and hopefully you'll have the opportunity to get the Live CD of the evening.

Josh,

Was it filmed (videoed) too? When I saw Adam in Omaha a few weeks back, he said it might be...

Well, I videoed the whole thing, and there was another camera running that was stationary and getting a wide angle shot.  I'm not really a cameraman, but I hope I got something usable over the 3 hours I was taping...

Any ideas what they may end up cutting to get a 90+ minute show to fit on an 80 minute CD?  Granted the Wilson Brothers set was only about an hour but I enjoyed hearing "What the Hell", "Other Than Me", "The Big Bear", "Don't Look Back Don't Look Down", "Meanwhile", "You're the Beautiful", "My Kickass Life", "I Can't Let Go", etc just as much as the Denny and Carl stuff.

addendum to my last post:  What'd really be cool is if they would release the entire show on a 2-disc set with a bonus DVD featuring the documentary that Alan Boyd was shooting and the professionally filmed Bloomington show....

Hey, AB took my suggestion about launching BBCentral on the 4th of July seriously, maybe he can talk Adam into doing this as well   :D

It was an awesome, surreal show. There's definitely enough stuff for a 2CD set and I hope it comes out that way. I'm with Josh, there were songs I'd never dreamed of hearing live.

Did they perform anything from Pacific Ocean Blue? If so, which songs?

There was another one too, right? What song had both Alan and Adam playing keys and singing?

Wow, I love that song. How was it? Did they have some live horns performing on it? or just electronic? I'd love to hear their rendition.

Read Adam Marsland's blog on MySpace . . .

He opines on what may or may not make it on the live album . . . and also describes the technical, behind-the-scenes, headaches of pulling the whole thing off.
