Last night, through Facebook posts from a couple of his innumerable ex-girlfriends, it was learned that Bobby Jameson died last week in San Luis Obispo at the age of 70. If anyone qualifies as a kind of Zelig figure in 1960s Los Angeles music, he does - the list of people he worked with ranges from the Stones to Zappa to Crazy Horse (long before they became Crazy Horse) to Terry Melcher to James Burton to Curt Boettcher.  After 1973 or so he vanished into deepest obscurity. Interest in him revived a decade ago when his Songs Of Protest And Anti-Protest album was reissued on CD, and a few years later he began his blog/autobiography, which would probably stretch a thousand pages if it were in print form.  But his re-emergence came too late for him to do any kind of Rodriguez-style comeback, and he ended his days in isolation and poverty.
