Ok, let's play a game, if you wish.

You can choose 10 Beach Boy related Albums for the REST OF YOUR EXISTENCE - outside of these you will never hear anything else related to the boys.

 The Paramaters

 No Box Sets
 No Live Concerts
 No Compilations
 No sprawling boots
 Unreleased albums allowed
 Collaborations and Solos included

To give you an idea here's my 10 to start us off

Pet Sounds
SMiLE (disc 1 of the sessions) Brian Wilson Presents SMiLE
Wild Honey
Love You
Adult/Child
That Lucky Old Sun
Summer Days (And Summer Nights)
Slightly American Music
Sweet Insanity
I Guess I wasn't made for these times (A cheeky one, not strictly a compilation as all tracks were re-recorded a fresh)

Choose wisely - anything that doesn't make your cut you will never hear again…..

Your #2 choice is part of a box set, thus by your own rules ineligible... and no POB ?

It was also part of a 2CD version.
Pacific Ocean Blue wouldn't even be in my top twenty. It's great if you like that kind of music but it's not for me.

I can accept that and would happily swap it for BWPS as for POS I considered it but it hasn't made enough of an impact on me (yet) to be deemed essential to me.

4. Pet Sounds
5. Smiley Smile
6. Wild Honey
7. 20/20
8. Sunflower

In ascending chronological order:

I assume that we get to have the mono and stereo versions where applicable  LOL

I also show my work:

1. Surfin' USA (Classic. The filler is actually pretty enjoyable even though sometimes I skip songs if I'm listening digitally.)

2. Surfer Girl (Classic of course. No explanation needed.)

3. Little Deuce Coupe (Love the album but luckily Surfer Girl already has some of my favorites like "Our Car Club" and the few obvious others. Am missing out on "409" though Sad .)

4. Shut Down Vol.2 (I love just about all the tunes on this album. "Keep an Eye's" bridge is so haunting (?). It's difficult, in a good way, to adequately describe that feeling in Brian's voice. "This Car of Mine" is one of my favorite Dennis vocals. "Louie Louie" is not too bad of a tune and the the "Shut Down" instrumental is pretty enjoyable IMO.)

5. Today   (I love Side A's rockers and Side B is ethereal. I could (and have) sit and listen to "Please Let Me Wonder's backing vocals over and over again.)

6. Summer Days  ("Help Me, Rhonda" is my "Be My Baby." I think it's a perfect pop song and deservedly was a number 1.)

7. Pet Sounds ("You Still Believe in Me", stereo version, still sends chills down my spine.)

8. Smiley Smile (I like the homespun lo-finess of this album. I get "GV" and I get "With Me Tonight." I love the tripiness and fullness organs bring to pop/rock and the whole chill aspect of this album serves to complement this.)

9. Wild Honey (Perfect album for late fall, early winter. Love sitting by the record player blasting my duophonic copy with a good beer surrounded with good people or if I'm alone jamming along on the piano.)

10. Friends (From this point onwards it gets really tough. I love the cheesy/homespun side A with the cheesy organ lines like "When a Man..." and I love how Brian ends "Wake the World" with his trademark falsetto with "When you're calling MEE.  I'm not a huge fan of side B when listening to individual cuts but I do think all the tracks work as a whole.)

11. Sunflower (I LOVE this album for the obvious killer tracks but I guess I could live without it even though it isn't spring time without having listened to it on vinyl at least a handful of times.Sad )

12. Surf's Up (Definitely going to miss "Feel Flows," "Tree," and the final two cuts.  It was between this and Carl but what the heck.)

13. Carl and the Passions (I know this is a love it or leave it album but I like how it's not a complete work like Holland with the South Africans and the Boys trying to figure it out. I love the spiritual music, "Marcella" is such a good song and I love the fade out with Brian's new voice in the left channel singing away at "Heeeey Marcella."  Dennis's two songs are absolutely gorgeous.  "Make it Good" to me is like the meaning of life and love all in the span of like two minutes.  I love hearing that song while walking on a cold dark night at the top of a hill where I can see the lights of the city miles away and having that song envelope me while I close my eyes and feel the cold air on my face and in my nose.)

14. Holland (Going to miss "Funky Pretty" and especially it's fade out. I love this album though. Hard one to let go of.)

No order...

Pet Sounds, of course
Smile (the complete version, of course, from 2004)
Sunflower
Holland
The Beach Boys Love You
Brian Wilson Reimagines Gershwin (am I allowed to fix the EQ on the opening track?)
Pacific Ocean Blue (although, TBH, I can only imagine myself listening to "River Song" and "Time" -- the rest of the album sounds dated to me, TBH)
Friends (especially if I can get a completely remastered version of it)
Brian Wilson (mainly for "Rio Grande")
Summer Days (And Summer Nights!!)
