I thought I would plug a friend of mine's band, Minneapolis' own The Vestals. the songs are by Jeremy and Ben Gordon (brothers). They recently released their second album, which also features drumming by Noah Levy of the Honeydogs. If pressed, I'd describe the music as mid-60s Beatles, early 80s Elvis Costello, mid-90s Radiohead touches and some Rufus Wainright. And maybe some Squeeze. It's good stuff.
You can hear some of their new songs at
www.thevestals.com. Their first album is reviewed at allmusic.com, where it got 4/5 stars.
