The Nashville Film Festival just celebrated its 46th annual festival with a week of events that included more than 285 films from 45 countries and with more than 43,000 in attendance.

Submissions broke records this year, with more than 3,500 film entries and 1,350 screenwriting competition entries. So who won the award of Best Original Song? The No Pier Pressure/Love and Mercy song One Kind of Love.

Congratulations Brian! This shows Love and Mercy is loved by the people who have watched it and that the songs Brian wrote for the movie, in this case One Kind of Love, strike a chord with cineasts.

That's cool! Congratulations Brian!

I stand by my opinion though: the verses are great, the chorus average. The verses would deserve better imo

a diseased bunch of mo'fos if there ever was one… their beauty is so awesome that listening to them at their best is like being in some vast dream cathedral decorated with a thousand gleaming American pop culture icons.

PRO SHOT BEACH BOYS CONCERTS - LIST

To sum it up, they blew it, they blew it consistently, they continue to blow it, it is tragic and this pathological problem caused The Beach Boys' greatest music to be so underrated by the general public.

Best song on NPP. Anyone know if this one originates from the Thomas sessions in the 90s or is it later?

Scott Bennett is the cowriter and Thomas isn't, so I'd guess "later". And I agree wholeheartedly - best song on NPP.

It's one of two songs Brian wrote for L & M at the request , I believe, of the director.

Such a great song. Far and away the standout track of NPP. Musically and lyrically awesome.

Ray's statement that One Kind Of Love was written especially for the movie is very important. To be eligible for an Academy Award nomination as Best Song, a song must have been written specifically for the film in which it is used. I think there's a very real possibility that Brian could get an Oscar nomination next January/February...and wouldn't THAT be a cool new item on his resume?

Well done Brian! The best track on NPP by some margin.

Nice for Brian but also kind of a surprise.  I felt "One Kind of Love" was one of the more average songs off the new album...pleasant enough but unremarkable.
