Hey, gang

Just posted my version of "Better Off Dead" from the fabulous Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy album. Hope you dig it. In particular I had fun double-tracking the drums to try and get an echo effect comparable to the original recording. Let me know what you think.

Thanks

Great cover! Sounds great.

Better Off Dead is my favorite Elton John song. The 1979 live version he performed in Russia is pure brilliance: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9bffP1d8jsM&spfreload=10

Ha, yes, that version with Ray Cooper is great. I toyed with doing the sort of "crazy eyes" thing Elton does on that clip when I was  filming the lead vocal or doing the Ray Cooper-style flourishes on the drums, but thought I'd just look like a madman. A madman across the water, even.

Great job!  (Captain Fantastic is my favorite Elton record and Better Off Dead my favorite cut.)

I have shared that 1979 performance with MANY people when they suggest Elton can be summed up with a Greatest Hits record.
