Combining albums as a Two-fer.

Let's play a game. The rules are simple, you are allowed to take 2 albums from 1961-2012, and choose which two albums work together well, creating a two-fer. Give your reasons why these two albums flow together well. Remember, it's more fun if you choose 2 albums from 2 different BB periods!

Surfer Girl / All Summer Long
My favorite of the surf / car albums. That would be a killer 2-fer.

By and large, I think the twofers were handled correctly.
Love You / Wild Honey - both sparse, stripped down - might be an interesting combo
I'd like to see a STILL CRUISIN/SUMMER IN PARADISE twofer, with the addition of California Dreamin', Lady Liberty, California Girls (live 1986), Runaway (live 82), Happy Endings, Problem Child, Crocodile Rock and all of the various mixes of Rock & Roll to the Rescue included on the original 1986 cassingle.

I don't see why not. To make it better, you are allowed to use ALL BB solo albums.

The Beach Boys Today! and Pet Sounds. Released more than a year apart but both high quality and one often considered a prequel to the other.

I tried to think of something to go with Love You. Maybe Friends? Different feeling but both a bit out of the ordinary.

Smiley Smile / Love You. The package would also contain a magical sugar cube and a couple of spliffs.

I almost said Still Cruisin and Summer in Paradise. That way, we'd at least have remastered versions of the whole catalog.
Is Problem Child even available on CD? I know it didn't crack the GV or MIC sets.

I have this twofer in the shape of a double cassette. It's a good one.

I wonder how different The Beach Boys legacy would be if they'd been allowed to release just 1 album a year which is still far more productive than any group you see today. They'd receive great deal more critical acclaim I think, in my opinion more people would have them up alongside The Beatles and The Rolling Stones on the strength of these individual albums. Assuming a double album of 20 tracks this is what they would look like.

It seems to me that the only album that could possibly go with Love You is another copy of Love You. If the rules are to be stretched to allow unreleased albums, Adult Child could work with it too.

I really like a lot of the inclusions you made in Beach Boys 64 (especially the Christmas songs and I Do). The Beach Boys 66 would be kind of all over the place with the Pet Sounds stuff leading to the Smile stuff.

I think half of LA and half of TWGMTR would make an excellent single album. Of course, if you combined the other halves...
