NPP charts at #16 in U.S.

With 16,270 units sold, No Pier Pressure bows at #16 on the Hits Daily Double album sales chart, with all results in. Billboard tracks HDD pretty closely, although the positions may change by a spot or two.
This would give Brian his second-highest solo album placing, with 2004's BWPS still holding the top spot. It's also the highest-charting BW album containing newly written material.

Thanks, Wirestone. It seems the public has spoken in both the UK and US quite positively. Great news.

So much for the negative reviews. This is wonderful news.

That's an incredible showing for an album with luke warm national reviews.
Btw... I think NPP is Brian's best solo album, not including BWPS. I've already added these to my Best of Brian playlist: Saturday night, Feeling Sad and Sail Away.

Will it go top 10, or is this the peak, do you think?

Awesome!
Honestly, even if I wasn't crazy about the album I would want it to be a strong seller. Brian certainly deserves it for so many reasons, and lord knows all kinds of other krap goes Top 10 on a regular basis.

I'm surprised such low sales gets such a high position in the US charts. Still a decent showing.

That's the way the charts go these days. There have been No. 1 albums within the last year or so that have only just broken 20,000 in sales. With a different week, BW could have gone top 10.

This will likely be the peak. Again, that's how the charts work these days.
Although the film will likely boost sales over the summer (and I'd assume that's part of the Capitol's decision to delay release from the fourth quarter of last year to the second quarter of this one).

Many highly anticipated titles peak in their first week these days. I predict #54 next week.

I was just at Target, and completely forgot about NPP, when I passed by the new music section. There I suddenly remembered. I checked to see about In the Back of my Mind, to see whether or not it was a hoax. And alas! It was true. I didn't get it, well, because I didn't have my wallet on me.

No Pier Pressure
deserves to go to the Top. It's the Best record I've heard since Iron and Wine's
Ghost on Ghost
, April 2013.

A bit more perspective, just for kicks.
If No Pier Pressure were a Beach Boys album, it would be their third-highest charting non-compilation album since Pet Sounds in 1966, behind only TWGMTR (#3) and 15 Big Ones (#8).

I misread that as "just for kids." It spent a while trying to figure out why that fact was especially for the kids until I realized I'm apparently not great with, you know, reading words.
Good news on the chart position.
Now, how many of those 16k purchases are by board members? I'm in for two so far and I'm sure some of you have that beat...

One Target, one regular deluxe (how does that phrase make sense?) and one digital. I also have the Soundstage special package coming ...
