"The song is on the order of “Heaven,” and it tells who Elvis was…the lyrics and the music. It’s simple, it’s sweet, and it’s deep. It’s emotional to talk about it, because all three of these people – who were so close to me in my life – are all gone. But boy, this is a great piece of all of their music left behind honoring Elvis, and done by Carl and Myrna."

When should we expect to be able to buy/hear this recording, do you think?

>>Billy and I discussed what we should do with this historic reel and felt strongly that this was Myrna and Carl’s music and should be for their fans. I happily offered the tape back to the Wilson family with all proceeds earned to benefit the foundation <<

Still the best documentary about Elvis. And this comes just now that FTD will re-release the soundtrack to "This is Elvis" as a double disc (see below). This could've been a perfect way to release it.

The famous (uncensored) "buried in a beaver"-scene:

It's good FTD have gotten around to this soundtrack. The fans have been asking for it for a while now. Did anybody here ever get to see Elvis live? I saw him in 1972 four days after the Madison Square Garden concerts. He was flat out amazing and the audience response was so out of control that it bordered on all out hysteria.

Hi Rocker,
Great site you linked to. I'd not seen this one before. It looks like I was a day off, as Elvis was wearing the Blue Nail suit the night I saw him. It was this show:
http://www.elvisconcerts.com/cdr/720615es.htm
I have the tour program and ticket stub, and I bought a poster at the show.

I have no idea how good this song might be (it would no doubt be great to hear Carl’s voice, but sometimes “tribute” songs can be kind of clunky or cloying, at least lyrically), but I’m hoping they actually get around to really releasing this song in some form rather than just talking about it. Neither the Carl estate nor the BB’s seem to be churning out archival product at a quick pace, so I’m worried about how they’ll get this song out unless they just throw a free download up on the interwebs.

There is that apparent Carl biography coming out later this year, and I would hope that was done with some amount of co-operation from Carl’s family and friends (his story is harder to research, so I would imagine the author would have some new sources; otherwise it would be a potentially extremely short book), so perhaps they might get some Carl archival release out there (perhaps Carl’s other solo album CD, or a set with both along with some rarities) to tie in with the book.

Lucky fellow! Must've been quite an experience; Elvis in '72
It's a cool site that gets updated regularly. You can also see old newspaper reviews etc. maybe a review of "your" concert is in there as well.

I agree about tribute songs. And I only remember one Elvis tribute song that was any good imo.
I commented on Billy Hinsche's facebook post that the soundtrack will get re-released soon. Maybe there's a chance to tie in with a release of this song.

It was mentioned on the "For Elvis CD Collectors"-messageboard that George Klein played the song on his radio show. Someone (username:  The Baystar dude) thankfully recorded it. Listen here:

Sounds very much like Heaven to my ears, or at least performed in the context of the song Heaven.

Not nearly as good as "Heaven".
I guess it wasn't used for very good reason. Not that it's a particularly bad song but I can't see it as a titletrack for such a movie as "This is Elvis". If it was used, I could see it being played during the end credits. But Presley's own "Memories" was probably a better choice, although it was used the same way already for "Elvis on tour".

Great to hear Carl on an unknown song though.

would love to have had heard Carl sing it...... and with his overdubbed harmony...

very much 'heaven' meets 'I wish for you'

not sure how it may have fit with the documentary, but as a stand alone track..... could have been nice..

I'm happy that it is not as cheesy as these kind of songs 8especially about Presley) usually get.

Here's the movie btw:

EDIT:
Damnit! It's in spanish. I try to find the english version.

EDIT 2:
There you go   http://www.alluc.com/l/This-is-Elvis-1981-mkv-flv/gcqqszaa

Although it's not up-to-date on a few things, it's still the best Elvis documentary we have imo.

Thanks for sharing. I love it, although the chorus probably needed to be developed a bit more. Just lovely hearing those 2 voices together again. Myrna really loved Elvis (no, not romantically), and this comes across in the song.
