...other than "Don't Talk?"
I was listening to "IJWMFTT" today, and wondering what the basic demo of that could've been like. I have no clue.
Anything on youtube?

Nope. Quite possible no other "demos" of this sort exist.

I guess I say this only as a guess - I've never heard mention of other demos like this, nor have any been released on the Pet Sounds box or any rarities collection since. I think there'd be high interest in such a thing, so I'm inclined to believe the "Don't Talk" demo may be the only one of its kind, at least from the Pet Sounds-era.

too bad there may not be any more demos because that would make a great Cd, all the Pet Sound songs in demo form..

Interesting wider point - given their prodigious output in the 60s, there are very, very, very few demos of
anything
, period. That we know of.
Top of my head (and way too early in the morning...)
Surfin'
In My Room
Surfin' USA
Don't Talk...
H&V (not strictly a demo, but hey...)
Surf's Up (ditto)
Rendezvous
Soulful Old Man Sunshine
Additions welcomed.

Well, there's one for "'Til I Die". Also one or two demos for
Mt. Vernon and Fairway
. Plus all the
Love You
demos.
Oops, I suppose you meant 60's demos.

I'm very curious about "Rendezvous". Is there a description available?

The '66 piano/vocal version? What was the intent of it, then? Not doubting you, considering the '67 version, which we know wasn't a demo, either.

It's an early title of "Do It Again."

This is perhaps an ignorant question, but is it possible that nobody foresaw a need to record demos, or to keep those recordings, because of the relatively short turnaround time between writing, recording, and release? And that people (not sure who) only decided it was important after Brian's contributions to the band became less reliable? For example, perhaps the reason someone thought to record the Love You piano demos was that they weren't sure Brian would see the songs through to the recording and thought they might need the demos if they decided to record the songs without his input later.
Just a thought.

There's not a full demo here, but Brian plays a bit of "I Know There's An Answer" on piano while going over vocal parts in this video.

Ones I've heard:
"Gonna Hustle You" (demo that appeared on THE BIG BEAT 1963)
"Back Home" (1970 version piano demo w/ Al lead vocal)
"Lookin' At Tomorrow" (Al guitar demo - the first few bars of which sounds surprisingly like the first few bars of "Stairway to Heaven")
Also Bob Norberg allegedly has more "apartment demos" of the songs he collaborated with Brian on (a la the "Little Deuce Coupe" demo on HAWTHORNE). I believe "Keep An Eye On Summer" was mentioned as possibly being one of them.
I would love to know if the Library of Congress has any that were submitted with copyright filings.

This is a mysterious area as it is for many other significant artists. I can imagine a lot of demos were taped as part of the songwriting process at home or on the road but whether they were kept, lost or wiped is a complete unknown. A number of Beatle era Lennon tapes have surfaced over the years. Generally speaking these kind of tapes were made at home so the chances of them getting into circulation is greatly reduced. Lennon's were broadcast in The Lost Lennon Tapes radio series - among those tapes was Paul's demo for We Can Work It Out cut off after 45secs or so for John to record some gobbledegook aarrgghh.
In my dreams, somewhere there are demos for some of the Smile tracks such as Worms/Look/Child and Holidays, heck even Heroes in one of it's incarnations. Songwriters, especially "working" songwriters tend to record a lot of demos. Unfortunately, most of the songwriters i know dispose of them pretty quickly. I have boxes of my own stuff but probably wiped ten times that quantity or left it with publishers never to be seen again. I suspect the same may well be true for Brian. But you never know....maybe there's some boxes in storage somewhere in California with piles of reel to reels in them.
Lee's comment re Library of Congress filings is a good point though i suspect that the turn around from writing to record was so quick that if recordings were submitted they would quite probably be standard studio recordings.
