At one point during the Beach Boys tour of 2012, Mike came to Brian - who was chatting with Darian, Scott and Paul v. Mertens - holding this guitar in his hands and exclaiming to Brian's band members "You know when I was in India with the Beatles, one day Paul McCartney came to me with his guitar playing this song and I helped him write it. [sings] Flew in from Miami Beach BOAC, Didn't get to bed last night." That's when an enormous scream of "Stop it!!!" was heard coming from the place Brian sat before but was now empty as Mr. Wilson ran with the speed of light to Mike, took the guitar, hurried outside the building and then hitting the guitar to the ground in time to his own ranting of "Aruba, Jamaica, ooh I wanna take ya. Aruba, Jamaica, ooh I wanna take ya". The picture was taken at that moment. Not much is known of what exactly happened afterwards but there are rumours that Brian was eventually fired.

PRO SHOT BEACH BOYS CONCERTS - LIST

To sum it up, they blew it, they blew it consistently, they continue to blow it, it is tragic and this pathological problem caused The Beach Boys' greatest music to be so underrated by the general public.

That was a charity promotion, and those who have more details chime in, that I believe was held by the Hard Rock Cafe where they got various musicians and celebrities to smash guitars, and it was either the donors would pay for the broken guitar, or contribute money to each musician smashing the guitar.

Check on Google, I think it was Hard Rock Cafe, though, who held this promotion.

Correct. It took place on Friday, August 12, 2005. This was part of  the "guitar smash" to celebrate the grand opening of the Hard Rock Cafe in Times Square. 100 Gibson guitars were smashed simultaneously.

Rumor has it, it took 27 takes for Brian to bust the guitar.

Man, Brian's hair is great.

Yes, indeed. And the persistent rumor is that maybe half of Mike's "issues" with Brian have to do with the fact that he has had, and still has, such a wonderful mane--whilst Mike is, alas, the Dome-Head of Love....  3D

I thought maybe Brian was picking up after some littering musician (like, say, Pete Townsend).  LOL

That's exactly it, Brian was picking it up to use it as lumber for his fireplace. Cheesy
