Positive reasons to get out of bed in the morning

Hi all,

I am going to be upbeat in this post and list positive reasons people get out of bed in the morning.

Positive reasons:

To listen to songs they like
To see the posts on online message boards
To be with family
To listen to the birds
To see the sun rise
To write poetry
To meet friends for breakfast

This is a great topic for any day. As much of a cliche as it can be, it's easy to forget how great it really is to be able to wake up and experience another day in general. When the times get really bad, you can still find something as simple as opening the blinds in the morning to let the sunshine in to enjoy.

I remember Warren Zevon after he had been diagnosed with his terminal illness was on the Letterman show. It was a tough interview, because everyone who knew Warren knew what he was facing. And I forget how the question was phrased to him but I'll never forget how Zevon replied: "Enjoy every sandwich".  And that summed it up almost as well as anything I had ever heard.

To be alive.  To witness, to be conscious -- is the greatest miracle or evolutionary feat accomplished.  There is no other reason, that I can think of, for any of it.

To go to work and provide for the people I love. That is about the best reason I can think of.

Well said.  That's exactly what motivates me to "do it all over again" each morning.  Cuz, otherwise I'd be a bum!  I still am a bum... but I'd be much, much bigger bum, without them.  Unshaven and all the rest.

When I say "I can't think of any reason" I was referring to LIFE in general.  The ole' why are we even here? question.  Not the OP's questions -- but the next logical question.

And the only reason I can think of is to be a witness.

Listening to the birds will make me immediately go back to bed. It's that boring; not into poetry, both writing AND reading. As for sunrise, I like everything involving sun sights. It's def. the most beautiful thing to watch, even better than rainbow. Still, I don't think over this, frankly, silly question, what the reasons are etc.
