It's really turning out to be a great podcast. The Dick Cavett and Drew Friedman ones had me helpless! That Old Groucho voice reduces me to tears.

Roughly 19:00 mark he begins talking about Brian, btw. Just got there, myself.

This may have been discussed here before but Paul Shaffer was a guest on Gilbert Gottfried's podcast last month and talked about working with Brian during the Landy era. He relates a funny story about Brian trying to talk Paul's girlfriend down during an earthquake. I'm not sure what track they were working on (at first I thought it was "Metal Beach" for Paul's album) but evidently the song Paul talks about had lyrics.

The discussion starts around 19 minutes in: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7mKiR1kV0Qw

They made a Problem Child III?? Shocked

Those Landy-era anecdotes are quite unsettling, no surprise. Thanks for posting!

It's a windstorm and evidence of talking down I didn't hear; but Gottfried's PC was Ginormous!

My mistake. I thought it was an earthquake that was making the building shake.

I always liked metal beach, was hoping the Wilson-Beck-Jardine sessions' "Metropolis" was going to be an updated and better instrumental

Shaffer was probably like, "Brian, I really love 'Little Old Lady From Pasadena.'" And Brian's like, "Oh yeah? Then I've got a great riff for you."
