This has driven people on several forums nuts. Shazam, SoundHound & Google can't identify the song or performer.

Everyone would've come up with this, granted, unoriginal idea. I search a random song I heard on the radio & liked by lyric line all the time.

First thing I did was a lyric search.
Could this be Sire era Searchers 1970-80's?

Sony's TrackID doesn't come up with anything, and neither does the lyric search I just did.

It sounds like the band that covered Turn! Turn! Turn! from the Forrest Gump soundtrack (lol what the bird is that band name /lol) combined with the skills & magic of that Barenaked Ladies band that had a song about Brian Wilson sleeping a lot or something.

So to answer your question, I don't know.

You know I give you one less (intelligible) now wipe that smile from your face
Like a little child you let your precious time slip away
throwing bottles in the ocean as the tide comes rushing back
there's no reason to stay it's time I made up my mind
now it's a brand new day so smile and say goodbye

A kind member of this forum PM'd me - he found the answer in "10 minutes"!

In his words it "...is called "Smile And Wave Goodbye". Written by Al Gross, Marc
Ferrari and Pete Surdoval, it seems to come from a digital...music hiring service."
