Why do you think this is part of a new tour, there is nothing said about a tour or the new album?

Venue must be wrong - that's a casino. Only Mike ever plays casinos. However, if he is playing a casino, I seriously doubt he'll be presenting any brand-new tracks. Meat & spuds GH, more like.

That's also a really badly researched and written article.

Many fans of all sorts have acknowledged and attended Brian casino shows for years. There are not vast swarms of fans erroneously stating only Mike does casino shows. That sounds like another straw man.

Well, nobody attacked Mike on this thread yet so he wanted to make sure people got around to it as a public service. Hopefully someone can point out Mike's endlessly diverse deep cuts UK sets too! Just in case we weren't aware. Seriously. Deep, deep cuts.

Now... when do we get the dates for more shows?!

And who will be doing falsetto?

I wish you the best of luck with your gambling issues, good sir! And why did you change my quote from the falsetto line to more dates? Exactly which question won you a bet? You're so dashing and mysterious with your emoticons.

Definitely sounds like a shorter warmup gig tho, you hardly bust out the good stuff or finish a tour in Oklahoma.

One thing I just adore about this place is the boundless optimism. Brian announces one - count 'em, one - show at a casino in Oklahoma and already it's a warmup show for the tour supporting the new album (for which no release date has yet been officially announced).

He's playing a private gig in Hamilton, Ontario tonight: maybe that's the real warmup for the NPP world tour which will be announced tomorrow. Yes !! Of course, what else could it be ??!!!???

Boundless cynicism and preemptive defensive of Mike Love it is, then! I'll leave you to it.

M&B shows are always warm up shows for the real BBs act. It took 12 years to wait for the real BBs again in the C50. Now the count has restarted at two years. Wink

AGD, ya enjoying Mike throwing away the c50 to follow his muse and sing pisces brothers?........

And production aside, I’d so much rather hear a 14 year old David Marks shred some guitar on Chug-a-lug than hear a 51 year old Mike Love sing about bangin some chick in a swimming pool.-rab2591

One day, they are finally gonna record Waves of Love and it will all be worth it for Mr. Alan Jardine. He's playing the long game.

I hope he is! The man in the white suit is a great part of the band. Wouldn't it be great if they could pull off From There to Back Again live. Not in Oklahoma, obviously. It would confuse and startle.

The reason people are excited is they like Brian's music. Ain't I right? Is it really weird people wanna hear/see someone they like a lot, someone who has had a great impact on their lives? I don' think so.

I am pretty sure you understand that so what's the "I pretend I am stupid" game of yours about?

Oddly enough, I quite like Brian's music too. Don't even mind others enjoying it, actually. Have no real problem with someone wanting to see him play live: I've done that very same thing once or twice.

Problem I do have is with anyone taking a small particle of fact - a solitary casino show - and inflating into the first show of a new tour promoting his new album on the basis of "that's what I want it to be". The only vague dates we've had for the album are November on a few CD sales websites, and someone who played on it saying in an interview that it's due in "December, I think". Official word from Brian's people or Capitol ? Nope. This place is (mostly) better than that.

I'm willing to wager a modest sum that...

This is but one show of a handful (as per the recent gigs)...

They'll all be GH (with maybe one album track - as per the recent gigs)...

The album won't see release in time for Christmas.

Make that a $25 treble.  Smiley

I understand and agree - right now we are merely speculating... plus hoping for the best. I can only speak for myself: I wish for new tracks that are good and if we get the hear some of them new tracks in Oklahoma I say "thumbs up". We don't know what will be played, but if new songs are played I hope we can have fruitful discussions about the songs here on SS after the concert. Some of us will like the songs, others won't. Just the way it should be.

No need. Someone kindly donated a copy to me that same year.  I suspect most others here were similarly "fortunate". Grin

Thread title is a statement of fact. An incorrect one, too, I'll wager, as it makes several unfounded assumptions.

Actually Andrew, perhaps you do have some info about why Mike hasn't had the guts to release any solo material this year despite claiming in interviews that he was going to get some stuff out. Unfortunately he hasn't even gotten a single song out either as a free download or for purchase(as streaming "Pisces Brothers" on SoundCloud and Queen Latifah's site doesn't count). Is there any word on whether he plans to finally release his long awaited follow-up to Looking Back With Love? Errr...Catch a Wave....errr....Summertime Cruisin'?

Also I think it is HORRENDOUS that you and others on this board are STEALING Mike Love's hard work and all the blood, sweat and tears he put into that material. How do you feel knowing that the money you are depriving Mike of is making sure Christian can't enter the next volleyball tournament*? Or that Ambha can't afford a new Mac computer to say what dicks the Wilsons are for keeping "cousin Brian" from her dad?

*Yes I know Christian is like 40. But last job I know he had was with Daddy.
