Interesting the photographer managed to catch Bruce when he wasn't adjusting his microphone. Or maybe that hadn't manifest itself yet, since he was actually busy playing the keyboard in those years. I guess., anyway.

To sum it up, they blew it, they blew it consistently, they continue to blow it, it is tragic and this pathological problem caused The Beach Boys' greatest music to be so underrated by the general public.

I wonder what the earliest-known example of fans noticing Bruce overly adjusting his microphone to the point where it became a "thing" to BB nerds. I'm sure Bruce (and all BBs for that matter) have adjusted their mics over the years plenty, but was it the M&B-era before people online made a point of noticing its prevalence? Did that become a "tick" at some point along the way (maybe exacerbated by the later era shows where he is far less involved from a musical instrument standpoint)? Half-serious question, but I'll bet somebody on this board knows!

By the looks of the photos Bruce was playing bass, keyboards and singing. Poor guy wouldn't have much chance to adjust his mike. Maybe that's why he overcompensates now!?

I'm unsure of when it came to be, I had noticed a lot of banter and jokes about it on message boards and FB within the past 5 years at least. When I saw Adam Marsland perform last August, someone made the request for Disney Girls (Teresa Cowles outright refused to play the song and took a break (LOL!) and Adam made a joke about wearing short shorts and adjusting his mic!)
I similarly tried to start an ongoing joke about Bruce always wanting to start a clap on every other song but usually nobody joins in (great example: Live in Knebworth in 1980, I believe he at least tries to start a clap during Heroes and Villains and Lady Lynda, among other songs). Alas, nobody kept that joke going except myself. 😉

Considering it all, are you surprised nobody got on your bandwagon?
