Love it--this totally sounds like it could be a lost Michael Jackson cut. Can't wait to hear the finished product!
Thanks Adam, glad u dug it! I've definitely been listening to a lot of MJ lately, as well as the soundtrack to Once Upon A Time In America by Ennio Morricone. Right after I watched the movie Saturday, I heard the intro vocal harmonies in my head (which isn't too dissimilar to the harmony section in "From There To Back Again") and took it from there! Great soundtrack btw, if anyone hasn't heard it, please check it out. It's one of the most emotional pieces of music I've ever heard.
Don't usually listen to this kind of music, but this is great. I like the drum sound.
Thanks dude, much appreciated. Funny you mention the drums, it originally had an entirely different drum track. But it sounded too electronic, so I ended up finding a folder with a bunch of drum hits I sampled off of vinyl a few years ago. Wish I could remember which record I sampled this kick from. Might've been Wings. I used the Abbey Road 60's Drums VST for the hi hat & the snare is a mix of a vinyl sample w/a live snare sample as well as a sampled clap + live hand claps (which are isolated in the intro).
edit - oh I also crushed all of the drums on a bus with a tape emulator VST. Which is something I just started doing, and I'm really loving the results. Gives sample based drums a nice glue. And I know you didn't ask for all this info, but I love talking about this sh*t, lol.
