I feel bad asking this (because it's kind of self-centered), and hope I'm not violating the rules of the board by doing so, but here goes:

Does anyone have any idea of how to acquire copies of either of these albums?  I've done quite a bit of research (ebay, various internet searches, etc.), but come up empty-handed.  It appears that the Spring album was in release not too long ago on CD from Rhino, but I can't find any more info on it than that.  There is a "Honeys Collection" CD available now, but it doesn't appear to have any Spring stuff on it.

The Flame album just seems to have disappeared off the face of the earth.  There is a very interesting website about the group, http://home.planet.nl/~molle565/docs/ but it has no information on how to acquire the album!

Anyway, I apologize again if this post is inappropriate.  Just wondered if anyone has any advice or recommendations.  Thanks.

The "Spring" CD was released by See For Miles in 1989, but is very hard to find these days. Your best bet is second hand stores or eBay.

I've seen lots of copies of the Flame's LP, so that one shouldn't be very hard to find. I believe there are several needle-drops doing the rounds as well...

You can find both of them every now and then on ebay. Just search every day and they'll eventually come up. Pretty expensive, though, unfortunately.

I have the UK issue of the Spring album on "See For Miles Records", and it should be noted that this version of the CD uses the UK billing, "American Spring", so perhaps it might help track down that version if you search for that version of the name.

and just in case you didn't know. The website you're referring to is also known as www.the-flames.com (which is a bit easier to remember).

Flames is a great sounding album. VERY Beatle-y. Thank you for providing it for a listen >  Desper got that nice tight sound in the production of the album as well.

Depressingly Beatle-y.

The 'Honeys Collection' CD has no Spring, yeah. But the earlier 'Capitol Collectors Series' Honeys disc did - the only official CD release so far for some cuts. It's OOP, but not too hard to find if you're keen.

There's a The Flame album on ebay right now, ends in six days, starting bid $10.00. It will be a great opportunity to get it cheap if you don't mind having one in not too great condition (the seller says VG-).

Sounds like Beatles-Abbey Road, but much better imho

PRO SHOT BEACH BOYS CONCERTS - LIST

To sum it up, they blew it, they blew it consistently, they continue to blow it, it is tragic and this pathological problem caused The Beach Boys' greatest music to be so underrated by the general public.

It's riduculous that an album as good as Spring, which I rate higher than 15 Big Ones (which is kinda sorta the same era), is out of print.  Somebody needs to jump all over that sh*t.
