he had a short but important part in that movie.

It's too bad that Peter Lorre got typecast in the horror genre for the later part of his career, because he really was a fine actor. He could be menacing, creepy or comical. I have the box set of the Mr. Moto series and his performances in those were nicely understated without any of the stereotyping the Charlie Chan series had. The only time Moto seems stereotypically Japanese is when he's "playing' the part for his own ends.

Glad to see his career is getting some recognition.

Doctor Einstein in Arsenic and Old Lace is a favorite role of mine. Plus, he's in one of my favorite movies, Casablanca.

This actor has very memorable face - he played the villain in "The Man Who Knew Too Much", director Hitchcock. The only film seen, but Mr. Lorre held the attention. He seemed convenient in that genre. Didn't watch the films listed here. Cyncie says he was typecast in horrors, I'll start with them (of course).
