I have seen clips from this concert many times.  But it just occurred to me I don't recognize the backing musicians.  Were these regular Beach Boy musicians at the time,  or were they part of the occasion or what?

I would surmise they're the same players they were using for touring at the time, as detailed in Ian and Jon's book on page 151.

What are the names of those players in page 151 in Jon and Ian's book? Because I don't see any of the usual guys like Ed, Daryl, Kowalski or Billy. I also didn't think they toured with horns as late as 1971.

Heroes & Villains also sounds like it's being played at a slower pace in this clip than what I'm used to hearing from this era.

Daryl Dragon (even mentioned by name) and Mike Kowalski are certainly there.

Here's some info:

Just got a good look at Kowalski. I stand corrected.

I, I love the colorful clothes she wears, and she's already working on my brain. I only looked in her eyes, but I picked up something I just can't explain. I, I bet I know what she’s like, and I can feel how right she’d be for me. It’s weird how she comes in so strong, and I wonder what she’s picking up from me. I hope it’s good, good, good, good vibrations, yeah!!

It seems to me that multiple members of the Beach Boys were having a bad hair day at this concert.
