Quote
Brian Wilson is the eponymous debut solo album by Brian Wilson released in July 1988 on Sire Records. Working with an array of collaborators including his therapist Eugene Landy, Wilson accordingly themed the album around love and spirituality exemplified by its lead single "Love and Mercy". Although the album's sessions were contentious, where some participants demanded a progressive artistic statement versus conventional pop songs, nearly a quarter of the LP is devoted to "Rio Grande", a piece which was intended to rekindle Wilson's experimental drive from the mid 1960s and early 1970s.
It was voted one of the best albums of 1988 by NME, and as part of its acclaim, garnered the nickname "Pet Sounds '88" among some critics.Brian Wilson has since been reissued on several different formats with bonus tracks, and cited by some as a standout in Wilson's solo oeuvre.

The album is on Spotify!

Tally on August 20

Love and Mercy
Walkin' the Line
Melt Away
Baby Let Your Hair Grow Long
Little Children
One for the Boys
There's So Many
Night Time
Let it Shine
Meet Me in My Dreams Tonight
Rio Grande

Walkin' The Line. I can't stand Brian's vocals on this one. Probably the only BW song (officially released) that is embarrassing to listen to.

Meet Me in My Dreams Tonight

That is one of the best, I vote for Walkin' the Line, just find it boring.

Oh Brian
Thou Art In Hawthorne,
Harmonied Be Thy name

Your Steak Well Done,
On Stage As It Is In Studio,

And Forgive Us Our Bootlegs,
As We Also Have Forgiven Our Wife And Managers,
And Lead Us Not Into Kokomo,
But Deliver Us From Mike Love.

Let It Shine.

I struggled for many years with Walkin' The Line; especially the opening arrangement of each verse (Iiiiii walk the liiine.., and that harmonica or whatever lick) but over the years I've grown to quite enjoy it.

Night Time is definitely not delight time, nor star light time, and it's not the right time for me

I'm gonna echo "Night Time." I'm surprised by all the people who don't like "Walkin' the Line." To me it is one of the better songs on the album. Great craftmanship--an expertly constructed song.

Night Time is dislike time.

Could those who decry One For The Boys elaborate? Is it hearing a wall of Brians where the other Beach Boys ought to be that grates, or do you just not like the song? It's one of my favourites on the record and I find it a teasing glimpse into what a half-decent '80s Beach Boys album might have been like.
