This album is an easy target, but I actually like it better than a lot of other solo Beach Boys records. Heck I even like it better than a few Beach Boys records!!! Looking Back with Love is Mike Love's only solo album. It was released in 1981 under Boardwalk Records. The track "Be My Baby" was produced by Brian Wilson, who also sings background vocals on the cut. Strangely, some copies came with stickers promoting the album as "the first solo album by a Beach Boys member", despite the release of Dennis Wilson's Pacific Ocean Blue four years earlier, Carl Wilson's self-titled album earlier in 1981, and Bruce Johnston recording solo albums before he even joined the band, in addition to his 1977 album Going Public. Also of note is the fact that the song "On and On and On" was a cover of an ABBA song which was directly influenced by a 1968 Beach Boys song called "Do It Again". Here is the whole album: http://youtu.be/UYNUF-Sw0RQY'all know the drill. Vote off your LEAST FAVORITE TRACK... and away we go! Tally on August 20 Looking Back With Love On And On And On Runnin' Around The World Over And Over Rockin' The Man In The Boat Calendar Girl Be My Baby One Good Reason Teach Me Tonight Paradise Found Runnin' Around The World is my first vote. Ho-hum boring brainless booty fodder.

This isn't quite as good as First Love, but it's a much better album than most people give it credit for. There are no great tracks here, but most of them are good fun. Two exceptionally bad tracks stand out, however: the hilariously bad title track, and "Rockin' the Man in the Boat," which is just plain dull.
I vote for "Rockin' the Man in the Boat." At least "Lookin' Back with Love" is funny.

Mike's not a Hawthorne boy. The Hawthorne guys stuck together. The Wilsons and I always had a special bond. We felt like we were a team.

Well, this is going to be fun. My favorite song on the album went first... What to do? There's so many. Let's go "Runnin' Around the World" again.
