Question Mark and the Mysterians

Awesome proto punk. Dave Marsh referred to them as "punk rock" in a 1971 Creem Magazine article. 1971!  That's before spiked hair and pogo dancing! Back in then 80s I bought a casstette on the ROIR label called '96 Tears Forever - The Dallas Reunion Tapes'. That's the tape that got me into the genre of 'garage rock'. One of the best releases from the ROIR label, which mostly put out punk related stuff.

I gotta mention this, too...
Tonight I was watching a re-run of CHiPS (an episode called Battle Of The Bands). This episode featured some of the funniest punk-exploitation TV stuff from back in the day. Some 'new wavers' get their band's gear stolen from some violent 'punkers' who just happen to be in a band called Pain. Anyway...there's a battle of the bands (which the new wavers win...even beating Ponch who sang 'Celebration Time'...lol). During the battle of the bands this violent punk band Pain beats up the club owner, beats up some people in the audience, they even beat themselves up too...funny sh!t. Quincy had an episode like this too. New Wave = Safe/ Punk = Not Safe. Makes me wanna listen to some real punk...Fear The Record, anyone?
the best CA punk bands were from san fernando: FEAR, Angry Samoans and the Dickies.

Yer right, guess ya cant judge a band on that, I dont expect everyone to love the BBs like I do but for someone involved in music not to is like loving cheese and hating milk yknow, its jus bizzare.
