The Library of Congress has just asked me (and I've accepted) to write the official essay on the Beach Boys and Pet Sounds for the National Recording Registry and the Library's historical archive.

To sum it up, they blew it, they blew it consistently, they continue to blow it, it is tragic and this pathological problem caused The Beach Boys' greatest music to be so underrated by the general public.

I, I love the colorful clothes she wears, and she's already working on my brain. I only looked in her eyes, but I picked up something I just can't explain. I, I bet I know what she’s like, and I can feel how right she’d be for me. It’s weird how she comes in so strong, and I wonder what she’s picking up from me. I hope it’s good, good, good, good vibrations, yeah!!

And production aside, I’d so much rather hear a 14 year old David Marks shred some guitar on Chug-a-lug than hear a 51 year old Mike Love sing about bangin some chick in a swimming pool.-rab2591

Congrats, Jon. By the way, my favorite part is your "(and I've accepted)." Because, um, OBVIOUSLY! Fantastic honor, I'm excited for you, as well as for everyone who comes behind us and reads it, knowing they will get accurate and well written information. It's a rare combo.

But go easy on the Dennis stuff, OK? (I'm kidding, I'm kidding!)

GREAT!!  Evidently some branches ( at least one) of the government know to contact the best person for the job, and get it done right the first time.

Congratulations

Congrats Jon! Glad this is in your capable hands.

Don't forget the bits about how the wrecking Crew played on all the hits and how Mike Love killed Smile and the reuinion tour.

Seriously, though... how lengthy and indepth is the essay expected to be?

Well done!

For us non- american's, what format does this involve? Book, multi-page essay available online?

Due for the 50th anniversary by chance?

Great news again and evidence governments can do something right occasionally.   LOL
