Some of you here may recognise the name - Geordie mega-collector who called his Newcastle shop Pet Sounds and has been a dear friend for close on 35 years. Life has dealt him a really shitty hand of late: his mom, 93, passed away late June and on Monday, his lovely wife Judy lost her battle with cancer. She was only 54. I'm heartbroken for him, what he must be feeling is beyond my comprehension. Spare a though for them both Tuesday.

Sad news. Condolences to John.

Visited his shop years ago and absolutely loved it. Was sad to find it closed years later.

Will do, Andrew. Used to visit his Pet Sounds store and bought my first BB T shIrt from there - a Smile one, of course. He used to live near me - not sure he does now - and would be a regular at the local barbershop - not to have his hair cut, just to sit and chat. Occasionally, he was given the brush and asked to sweep up!

JP was the first mega fan I think I ever encountered, at the American Band premiere showing in London back in 1985 (the '85 album was also being played in the venue after the show!). Met him many times since at gigs, conventions and even in the shop a couple o' times… He's a lovely generous guy and life just dealt him a bag of bad stuff.. Thoughts have been with him for several days leading up to and after this; still are.

Love that tale, Smilin' Ed!

Hope to meet John again at the next Stomp convention.

Also got news from Stephen J McParland, he lately spent some times at the Hospital but it seems it's OK for him now.

He finally decided to call it quits writing books. Too many things have changed.

he decided to put the best up as PDF files, which took me most of this year. Plus finishing up the last of the WALTZING THE PLANK books.

here s the address:

Bye fro now,

Gerard

John is still with us. It's his wife and mother who have passed on.
