Hey all - I wanted to make a proper intro.

I'm from Texas, early '30s, and a big fan of the BBs and Brian's work.  If you've seen me around on other threads, you may have picked up that I'm a musician myself - I play combo organ.

I grew up in a household that was very BBs-oriented - my grandmother is a huge fan of the early songs.  As I went to college, that morphed into me discovering Pet Sounds, the SMiLE bootlegs, etc. and from there getting into things like Wild Honey, Sunflower, and the like.

Beyond that, I'm a big fan of the various bands associated with the Elephant 6 collective (especially The Apples in Stereo, Dressy Bessy, etc.), various modern and recent indie rock bands (ex.: The Long Winters), Devo, Guided by Voices, Helium, Sleater-Kinney, The New Pornographers, Talking Heads, and quite a few others of various levels of age and recognizability.

Besides making music, I'm also a freelance photographer.

Anyway, I've read the forum for years, and decided I'd finally dive in.  You'll see me around, even if I don't have the same depth of BBs knowledge some of y'all do.  Smiley

I see you're into Wild Honey and Sunflower--two great, great albums. GREAT ALBUMS.

Sunflower: http://smileysmile.net/board/index.php/topic,15022.0.html

I will do so tonight!

And yeah, WH and Sunflower are two of my favorite albums, WH especially.  My band actually covers the title track on a semi-regular basis, warped a bit by the fact that we're female-fronted so the lyrics take on an extra layer.  Smiley  I love playing that song.  My old Farfisa organ sounds right at home there.

Welcome to the board. While I've got a few years on you (37), my experience was pretty similar in getting into the mid/late 60s stuff, then moving onward from there. I'm also a pretty big fan of an assortment of E6 stuff. (I recommend the new of Montreal doc, btw.) Glad to see someone with diverse musical taste and I hope you bring that sensibility to the discussions, both in BBs and non-BBs topics.

Thanks!  I shall do my best.  And yeah, "diverse" is a good way to put it - my collection ranges from power pop to riot grrrl to power trio rock to chip tune pop to twee pop and beyond.  Fortunately, my wife has the same kind of tastes, or it would probably drive her nuts.  Smiley
