If you mean decline in numbers voting, might that not be because of the sheer pain of what we're now being asked to do?  I didn't vote much in the album rounds, but I swore I'd participate in the final round.  I'm just about holding it together for the first three or four but I  can't see how I'm going to manage to put fingers to keyboard to write words that mean I am rejecting Please Let me Wonder or God Only Knows or Don't Worry Baby.  It would feel so, so wrong.

Thoroughly amazed that a demo recording is beating out some of the most well sung and well produced songs of the era.

I can't speak for anyone else, but for me TSS Surf's Up is the definitive officially released version of the song. I always thought Carl's lead was to breathy and soft and I prefer the delivery from Brian's demo. I hope it wins.
