Here's a quick review for you
Liverpool Bands's status update. ·
Liverpool Bands
Beautiful start to the day just listened to this - think Beach Boys - In My Room - so not the symphonic use of harmonies but the simple understated use to enhance a song. New Song 'Warzones' by Red Sails recorded live at the Nordic Church, Liverpool, 2014

Hope you like, please leave some feedback if poss
Cheers for listening

Man, this is really great stuff. Thanks for posting! Also, besides great music, your videos are extremely well recorded. All of these are really interesting with lots of quirky details. I really like She Had It All but my favourite must be the last one you posted, 'Warzones.' Really haunting and atmospheric and the great acoustics of the Nordic Church really is a perfect setting for such a song.
Oddly enough, I posted about this great room last year after my band had played two shows at the Cavern. As Danes we got in touch with the church community which rents out rooms at a real low cost in the basement below the actual church room and we had the chance to go up there and record this fur fun & quickly without any prior preparation. (I've posted this vid before, but it seems appropriate to repost now)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sXt89wgzBT4
Since then I've wished we could have done some proper recording with instruments there, milking the great acoustics for all it's worth. Glad to see you do it and get an awesome result with Warzones.
Well done!

Yeah, its a great space and lovely church. We're looking to play a small gig here at some point in the near future. Next time your playing in Liverpool you'll have to give us a shout and we'll try and get down to see you play

Man this is some really good stuff. Very melodic... I like on the first song the Piano and how it works in.
Don't be Scared is also very nice.
Warzones is a little slow for me but the harmonies are lovely. The natural reverb or the church sounds very good. Your voice (if you're the lead singer) is very pleasing, very relaxing music. I always appreciate when a man has the honesty and balls to sing sweet like that, but not overdo it and make it sound schmaltzy.
"Looking out to Sea" is also very well done, as the liverpool bands guy said I like how you guys don't overdo the harmonies, lots of bands used to double and triple the vocals up just in certain spots like that and it sounds great!
"Sure Enough" was also very nice, beautiful harmonies.
One thing that might add a little to your sound is this: I noticed while listening to them that the background vocals usually sound like they're their own entity, it's as if the band isn't paying attention to what you're doing. It would be more interesting if every once in awhile one of the other singers or even all of them had a little more texture to them. For instance, if one voice would call out from the others, or have a little nuance in the harmony like your voice starts to have on the final chorus of "sure enough"... you change it around slightly, emphasize certain words, change your phrasing but the band keeps oohing and aahing oblivious to anything else in the room.
I hope you understand what i'm saying. It sounds fantastic as it is, but it may sound even better if the other singers started having their own personalities, even as backup vocalists, and even if they continue just singing vocal pads. I only say this because you asked for feedback and I'm trying to think of ways you could be even better than you are. Either way, you guys are making some beautiful gorgeous music.
Not a criticism, only a fresh set of ears

Hi Ron
Thanks for your post, glad you like our stuff!
Yeah i see what your saying on Sure Enough, but was looking symphonic/orchestral cumulative thing on this one so was more like a comfy blanket that wrapped around the lead vocal. defo fair points and well considered.
we're in the home straight of finishing off an album, everythings been done by ourselves and on the fly here there and everywhere, we've managed to squeeze in places like bedrooms, big concrete cellars, stairways, right upto some amazing places like the London Colluseum (while the ballet dancers warmed up) to sneak some harmonium in! Just used natural and spring reverbs, valve amps, real instruments, all natural. Looking/Hoping to get the album released/picked up.
its taken a while but considering its self financed, we're typical struggling musicians workin crappy jobs to make ends meet its been great to get this to where we're at.
more to come!

Another gem! Beautiful.
Is this recorded in the Nordic Church as well? Damn, now I really wish we'd made the most of our stay there. (see above)
