"Be True to Your School"  based on the artist.  I have heard Toby, 'nuff said, so won't go looking.  I saw the documentary years ago, I think on the old Nashville Network.  This is the only Beach Boys record I do not own.

Have only listened to this once so I can't really remember what's bad and what's really bad so I'll just go with Be True to Your School

This is the way the world Ends. This is the way the world Ends. This is the way the world Ends.

Not with a bang, but a whimper...

At least until That's Why God Made the Radio came out, most of us assumed that this would be the Beach Boys swan song.

Quote
Stars and Stripes Vol. 1 is the twenty-eighth studio album by American rock band The Beach Boys, released on August 19, 1996 on River North Records. Produced by both Joe Thomas and Brian Wilson, Stars and Stripes Vol. 1 is a collaborative album with various country musicians. Despite its Vol. 1 sub-title, the album is the band's only venture into the genre of country pop music, and is the last studio album to feature founding member Carl Wilson who died in 1998.

Koby Teeth has been brushed away.

I am not sure how difficult to find this album is; here is a link to a few of the songs. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL8B292A4F2EA6E853

As per the usual, vote off your TWO LEAST FAVORITE tracks.

Tally on May 16th

Don't Worry Baby with Lorrie Morgan
Little Deuce Coupe with James House
409 with Junior Brown
Long, Tall Texan with Doug Supernaw
I Get Around with Sawyer Brown
Fun, Fun, Fun with Ricky Van Shelton
Help Me, Rhonda with T. Graham Brown
The Warmth of the Sun with Willie Nelson
Sloop John B with Collin Raye
I Can Hear Music with Kathy Troccoli
Caroline, No with Timothy B. Schmit

Round#1 - Be True to Your School with Toby Keith

My vote goes to I Get Around with Sawyer Brown and Little Deuce Coupe with James House.

The Brianista Prayer

Oh Brian
Thou Art In Hawthorne,
Harmonied Be Thy name
Your Kingdom Come,
Your Steak Well Done,
On Stage As It Is In Studio,
Give Us This Day, Our Shortenin' Bread
And Forgive Us Our Bootlegs,
As We Also Have Forgiven Our Wife And Managers,
And Lead Us Not Into Kokomo,
But Deliver Us From Mike Love.
Amen.  ---hypehat

Wasn't it two at a time now?

If so, Long Tall Texan and Help Me Rhonda

Hey Little Tomboy is creepy. Banging women by the pool is fun and conjures up warm summer thoughts a Beach Boys song should.

Mike's not a Hawthorne boy. The Hawthorne guys stuck together. The Wilsons and I always had a special bond. We felt like we were a team.

I get around and L'il Deuce Coupe - these cowpokes really struggle through these 2; perhaps the wrong dang key for them

Little Deuce Coupe
Help Me Rhonda

A lot of these are hard to rank, but I think there are four on this album that are easily better than the rest.  Hopefully others will agree as I haven't seen any votes for them yet.

I'm surprised by 409. I thought out of the faster-type songs that this one by Junior Brown worked the best. I actually like it almost as much as the original.

Interesting. To each their own, I suppose. To me the only remakes from this "Beach Boys" album I remotely like are The Warmth Of The Sun and Caroline No.

I'm sure that these two will be in the final three that we're voting among. They're excellent versions in their own right.

I don't like Willy's version, not even a little bit. Sounds like he's sleep talking, like most everything else he sings. Willy always sings like he doesn't care, so why should I? Wink
