It's a Beach Boys song after all, not a Mike Love solo track. Perhaps Pixletwin can give his reason as to why he didn't include it, intentionally or unintentionally.

Well, I never specifically sited the reverb as the issue - although it is overdone, and if wasn't on the original: why add it? My main gripes with the MIC version is the way all the life seems to have been stripped out of Brian's excellent backing track. On the bootleg it sounds incredible, on the released version it's just limp. The chorus comes in and... nothing; whereas on the bootleg CD when the chorus kicks in it's like an absolute powerhouse! Somewhere, somehow, for some reason, it's been watered down.

While I do think it does sound similar to some of Denny's other songs, I don't think it sounds similar to Barnyard Blues at all, though it does sound a bit similar to My Love Lives On, which is far superior in every way, except vocals naturally.

BTW changing my vote from Sherry She Needs Me to Brian's Back.

I wasn't referring to "Barnyard Blues" when I said "these" - figured everybody would understand what I meant, but I can be so damn cryptic.  I gave a listen to all the choices the night before I voted.  "All Alone" "My Love Lives On" and "Barbara" do sound very similar.  Had to listen to all three several times to decide.  I took notes for other votes.  I love "Barnyard Blues" - hope it gets deep into the survivors.  I love Brian pounding out "Why" as well, but that's not going to stop it from getting voted off, and quick.  It's an instrumental after all, and survivor history is clear on that.  I also have the bootleg version of "You've Lost That Loving Feeling" (bought Adult/Child, vinyl, BW-1977 in 1984) - So, been listening for many years.  I think the MIC version is Great.  All that's missing is the finger clicks.  I add those when I'm listening.

"I'm waiting for the day when..." Adult/Child gets an official release.  Then I could have a clear #1 choice - "Life Is For The Living."  But these others will do.
