The "winners" from the first two polls!
I'm going with the Today! twofer.
Definitely my favorite.

Yeah, this is going to be a total rout...as much as I love WH and still enjoy SS, leave us face it: those two 1965 records are just dripping with the grown-up classic sound...not to mention Hal Blaine's greatest non-drumming performance!!!  Happy Dance

Smiley Smile/Wild Honey every time. The twofer that made me the fan I am today, and quite possibly the best non-compilation single-CD Beach Boys release ever.

Third me in on that sentiment. SS/WH instantly made the Beach Boys my favorite band.

Quite possibly the best single-CD Beach Boys release, period.  Including compilations.  What compilation can boast of having "Fall Breaks and Back to Winter," "Little Pad," the Smiley Smile version of "Wind Chimes," "Aren't You Glad," "I Was Made to Love Her," "Country Air," "A Thing or Two" and "I'd Love Just Once to See You?"

in terms of the bonus tracks on each of the 2fers, what beats this?

Hereoes & Villains - Alternate Take
Good Vibrations - Various Sessions
Good Vibrations - Early Take
You're Welcome
Their Hearts were full of Spring
Can't Wait Too Long

'Can't Wait Too Long - the single best piece of unreleased music in the beach boys archive' - David Leaf
can't argue with that, one of the best archive discoveries I've ever heard!!!!!

as a 2fer stitcly on the albums i'd go with Today/Summer Nights - EASY!!!
but the bonus tunes start to bring up SS/WH a little, still go for T/SN though

Went with SS/WH for the same reason as seemingly everyone else in this thread that voted for it. It was the 2fer that made a lifetime fan out of me.

Certainly nothing against T/SD(ASN) which is practically flawless, but SS/WH was The One.

SS/WH for me. Tough choice, though.

No question. Not even close. SS/WH for me. Not saying they are better, but it fits the way I live better. Broken organ keys, and the smell of marijuana coming in through the speakers.

Tough choice seeing as Today! is my 4th favourite Beach Boys album. However Summer Days (and Summer Nights!) ranks considerably lower, plus as mentioned the SS/WH twofer has really great bonus tracks so put me in the Smiley camp.

This time, I will have to go with Today and Summer Days.

Though I still love Wild Honey, Smiley Smile just can't be compared to Today and Summer Days.
