I've been able to view some variations/countries at the Starline site, but I'm curious if anyone here knows of more?      As in other countries or label variation(s)...

Here are the ones I can see when I visit the site:

French-- with Picture Sleeve   ( Shown here:  http://www.beachboys45.nl/France-solo.htm )

The Netherlands--   with  Yellow Title Sleeve   ( shown here: http://www.beachboys45.nl/Neth-solo.htm

UK--
 Stock- solid center
Stock- solid center with Factory Sample sticker
Promo -Green A-label with breakable center
1974 acetate, shown as the Beach Boys     ( Those 4 Shown here:  http://www.beachboys45.nl/UK-SOLO-DW.htm  )

plus these two have evidently recently shown up:
Stock- with breakable center  ( hasn't made the site yet, so I haven't seen it)
Stock - with BIG HOLE  ( not the clearest, but you get the picture ...)

And  I got this scan of a New Zealand issue from someone there :

So I figure at a minimum, that means a possible  Large Hole UK promo and maybe a New Zealand promo.

( It's been confirmed it wasn't manufactured in Australia)

I was once "sold" a Portuguese copy, but when it arrived it was only a French one.( Goldmine ad, darn the luck)
But maybe there really is one from Portugal?  Spain?  Germany? South Africa?  Israel? India?
Somebody ( PLEASE) must have something  to add!!

Um... yeah. Because it says "Made in New Zealand" on the label.  Grin

It's that "someone" from New Zealand here. There was no New Zealand promo or demo version. All the record company did was to take a regular stock copy and place a sticker or two on the label.

An Irish pressing exists as well (also SS 2184). I have a picture of this on my PC at home. I'll look it up later today

Ahh, bad placement/phrasing on my part. What I meant to say is there isn't an Australian version, not that the New Zealand issue was made there.

Clear?

What is dinked?   Is it a way of describing a knocked-out center?
I've been assured that the one shown was made with a large hole, and not  from which a center has been removed.

In addition, I've found Stateside label 45 releases( in general, not specifically for DWR) for the countries listed below. So I suppose there could be copies of DWR for any, unless known not to be issued.
Can anyone rule out any of these?    ( Even that would help)

Angola
Australia ( no )
Barbados
Belgium
Denmark
Finland
France ( yes )
Germany
Ghana
Greece
Hong Kong
India
Ireland  ( yes )
Israel
Italy
Jamaica
Japan
Lebanon
The Netherlands ( Holland )   ( yes )
New Zealand  ( yes )
Nigeria
Norway
Portugal
Rhodesia
South Africa
Spain
Sweden
Turkey
United Kingdom  ( yes )
Yugoslavia

I noticed that the releases of a few BB (related) singles followed quickly after another. Tears In The Morning, See The Light (Flame) and Sound Of Free (Dennis & Rumbo). So I made this table a while ago. Check the catalogue numbers. Especially the UK, but take for example also the German ones; as far as we know there no German Dennis & Rumbo release, but seeing the similarities with the Dutch and French releases it does make you wonder... Although chances are slim, it does give me a bit of hope that a few gaps in this table can be filled one day...

yes, 'dinking' is the term used to remove the centre of the record.....for jukeboxes, its done with a specific tool for clean accuracy and cut...

just comparing this to the Great Britain 45, they appear identical to me, no other label changes.....

and on first visual, to me, straight away it looks 'dinked' to me...

it it's not a 'dinked' 45, then they had made no effort adjusting the writing credits to fit the large centre.....

and this was a release without the optional push out centre, so 'IMHO' lol, someone took to it and made their own...

love these topics!

Even if it's just a promo, at least we know there's an Aussie pressing. Cool! Do you have the catalogue number?

There was no New Zealand pressing of 'It's About Time" / "Tears In The Morning".

Thanks, will add it to the table. I was just notified that there is a NZ Flame single though. It's on cat45. I'll change the tabel asap.

I think Smile-Holland was having a brain -fart!  This record is already shown on the website...
But I think it would be really good for you to visit, on the chance that one or more of your records could be variations on what's shown. Or even better you may have something not shown at all!!!!
The main Site:  http://www.beachboys45.nl/

ALL of Australia:  http://www.beachboys45.nl/Australia.htm

Just don't let it distract you from finding some Rumbo Variations....
