If influential people read the board, please run this one past the Big Guy...

written and produced by Brian Wilson

I think we were well enough off just calling them "Dream Projects"...

On our way through this "backstage" maze, Bruce joined up with the group and said hello, singing "It Never Rains in Southern California" and joking with some of the older ladies. I'm not sure if they knew he was a Beach Boy or simply an enthusiastic elderly gay gentleman.

Feels
- an album of short pieces that don't add up to songs with Brian playing solo at the piano.

Wilson sings Newman
- In line with Brian's "reimagine" series, Brian Wilson plays his favorite Randy Newman compositions. Title tips its hat to Harry Nilsson.

"Big Band Album"
- Brian's seemed awfully excited about his singing lately, and maybe it would be a good time to revisit the Big Band sound he was eye-ing in the Adult/Child days. With new orchestra-backed recordings of "Still I Dream of It", "It's Over Now", maybe some big band remakes of other appropriate Beach Boys/Brian songs ("The Night Was So Young"), and a few covers.

How about Brian produces a Wondermints + Foskett, Jardine and Marks album in which Brian does not sing?
That would be interesting.

Brian's "wet dream project" (geez, what an awful name for a thread title) probably involves Brian in a chair, being left alone, alongside a plate of food.

As good as a wet dream project sounds, we all know it can only end in a mess. I'll be happy with a Beach Boys Rock and Roll album before they decide to call it a day.

The aim here is to suggest projects which would be wet dream projects for Brian to do.

Properly inspired, he makes the best fvcking albums in the world. My humble duty is to provide a little impetus here.

Does Spector get out on work release for this?

And production aside, I’d so much rather hear a 14 year old David Marks shred some guitar on Chug-a-lug than hear a 51 year old Mike Love sing about bangin some chick in a swimming pool.-rab2591

A Brian-produced Ronettes album would've been AWESOME in the '60s.

I've always wanted him to just do a girl group and teach them how to sing harmony like the Beach Boys did.  Even a new girl group, the Pussycat dolls or somebody... if you listen to any of these girl groups that have been out the last 15 years or whatever, they don't know how to sing multi-part harmony.  They just sing the same melody line, and one of them sings lead.  So they'll have 4 or 5 girls singing the exact same thing, if somebody like Brian worked with them and showed them how to actually harmonize, it would be epic.  It would fit Brian's strenths, and he would only have to work with them at his leisure and wouldn't have to tour or do anything he wasn't willing to do.

He could actually do that with anybody, I don't know if he would take that as an insult, but if he could work basically on just helping bands or singers get their harmony more complex, it would be fascinating to me at least.  I'm not saying I don't want to hear Brian sing, I'm just saying that I'd love to hear him work with somebody behind the scenes and get them to have a little touch of his harmony sound that's so genius.

Yeah, I like that idea. I think it's interesting that The Beach Boys never really seemed to mentor any other artists, at least as far as I know (maybe The Flame?), although they were obviously influential. I suppose plenty of people have expressed interest in working with Brian but either it hasn't worked out or the interest hasn't been reciprocated... Or it has and the results have been decent at best. Maybe that's why, hmm.

Wilson Sings Newman - YES! Could be great even at this point in time and would be a nice opportunity to get rid of his singing being overly processed, as the set would actually benefit from a raw-and-soulful approach.

No offense to the killer but I'd much rather have Dhani, partially because he's already done some work on the reissue, as Ayrton Wilbury no less, and partially because I can't see ANY new Wilburys ever happening without him.
