This morning, the postman brought me the 2,000th Beach Boys CD of my collection. I want to take this special occasion to thank all the people on this forum that helped me to enlarge this collection by a mean or another.

If you have any question about Beach Boys CDs, just don’t hesitate. I would be pleased to answer (in the limit of my competence).

Is it possible to hear a 30 second snippet of each cd?

What is different on your WIBNTLA( from the MIC), and can you please play/post it here?

I have now MIC in hands. After having carefully heard WIBNTLA, here is what I’m able to say when comparing this version to "mine". Both are the SAME version (structure, instruments, etc.). The sound is however quite different. In "my version", some instruments are less emphasized (for example, the guitar between 2.34 and 2.58 or the flute around 4.07) and some vocals are more emphasized (for example, the backing vocals between 2.34 and 2.58 and the lead vocal after 3.38).  I think "my version" is a rough (mono) mix.

So when are you going to post it so we can hear the differences?

I asked him for it via pm (after MiC came out) and it seemed like that wasn't something that was going to happen  Sad

Maybe if you offered to trade him 30 CDs he doesn't have, he'd send you a 30 second snippet

Not many, I'm guessing… though I'm also guessing few will 'fess up!

I'd love to see a photo of them!
How many in % would you say actually have unique music/versions on them as opposed as reissues/editions/etc?

I would love to read a list of what you have. That's a heck of a lot of CD's for one band. Like, woah, when you think about it. I second a pic, as well! I'd love to see this. Nothing like a juicy collection.

I will try to post a picture soon. Regarding your question, it is impossible to give an accurate answer without heavy computations... I would say about 50 (without bootlegs). So, 2.5%

I have an EXCEL file (in French but easily readable for a non French speaker). Please send PM.

Assume this includes multiple versions of the same release? EG, I have maybe three copies of Beach Boys Classic Selected by Brian Wilson, all with the same tracklist but very slightly different packaging…

Of course! For example, I have 14 TWGMTR (USA, Europe, Canada, Japan (+promo), Australia, Taiwan, Thailand (+promo), Argentina (+promo), Brazil, Russia, Mexico).

Have you A-B'ed them all for any differences? (or should that be A-B-C-D-E-F-G-H-I-J-K-L-M-N'ed them?)

I don't know exactly what you mean. I have a list and on this list, the CDs are filed according to big categories: Albums, Christmas, Compilations, Promo, Singles, Bootlegs Live, etc.
