Quote
Carl and the Passions – "So Tough" is the eighteenth studio album by American rock band The Beach Boys, released on May 15, 1972. Initial pressings of the album included Pet Sounds as a bonus record. The album is frequently considered a transitional album for the band, with the addition of Blondie Chaplin and Ricky Fataar on guitar and drums, respectively, and long-time member Bruce Johnston departing during its initial sessions.
It's been speculated that Carl and the Passions – "So Tough" was either scheduled to be released, or re-released, as a single album. A Warner/Reprise catalogue number, MS 2090, had been assigned to this single disc release, but nothing came of it. The album was released as a standalone album in Europe on Reprise Records.
The title of the album was a reference to an early band Carl Wilson had been in as a teenager. It was also the first album released under a new deal with Warner Bros. that allowed the company to distribute all future Beach Boys product in foreign as well as domestic markets.

Welcome back to the a new round of BEACH BOYS SURVIVOR. Remember to be respectful of others opinions. Please don't spam the thread with too much opinionating (a little is ok  Grin).... and without further ado...

He Come Down.

Can't stand Gospel, and Can't stand BB's doing Gospel.
Only song I really skip off this album.

Though I wouldn't be surprised it Make It Good goes first, I'd be happy if it goes after He Come Down!

"Hold On, Dear Brother," no contest.

In spite of the embarrassing lyrics, "He Come Down" might be my favorite song on this album.  Great rhythm, lead vocal and harmonies.

Hold On Dear Brother…

This is going to be a toughie though… some of my favourite BBs tracks reside on this album. If you asked for favourites first instead of least favourites though, it'd be a doddle!

Can't agree with ya there--not my fave album and I'm in a rush to get rid of several tracks here. Compared to Sunflower this album is the polar opposite for me--the first track that needs to go is

I do agree that its a good album, just not a good BB album for me. That said, I do given it a relatively regular listen--it's a nice change of pace every once in awhile

Fascinating to see the responses so far. I absolutely love He Come Down. I guess it comes from liking a lot of soul and gospel music before getting hooked on the BBs. Incredible vocal performance by the guys!

I'll vote for Make It Good -- nothing particularly against it but it's one of the less distinctive tracks. I have trouble even remembering what it sounds like.
