I had no expectations for this going in - but we're getting so many "Brianisms" out of this! And he even answered my question - said there's a similarity between the harmonies on Friends/Sunflower and the new album.

Brian talking about Berlin makes me wanna check them out more. "Take my Breath Away" is a real gem of the 80's.

Some collected highlights:

Quote
Jeremy Fifield: Hi Brian, I'm curious as to whether or not you're able to read or write sheet music. Do you, or did you ever use sheet music to instruct the musicians in your sessions on what to play, or did you just teach them everything by ear or using the piano?

Brian Wilson: Yeah, I write out manuscript music and sometimes at the piano

Quote
Jim Murphy: Was "Surfin'" already written before you and the guys visited Hite and Dorinda Morgan at Stereo Masters?

Brian Wilson: No, it was written shortly after them.

Quote
Steven Vaughan: The Munsters or the Addams Family?

Brian Wilson: Addams Family - I don't know, I just do.

Quote
Daniel Reiner: Brian– Sorry to post three questions in a row, but do you ever see Hal Blaine these days?

Brian Wilson: No, I havent' see Hal in a long time

Quote
Jeremy Roberts: Brian, what do you recall about meeting Dean Martin, and are there any particular Dino songs that inspire you?

Brian Wilson: Yeah, I met Dean Martin at a White House Party in 1984. They were very nice to me.

Two weeks to write Wouldn't it Be Nice yet Surf's Up was written in what? An hour I believe.

Weird how inspiration strikes at different times.

Do you listen to classical music?

"No, I really don't."

That sounds like utter disgust to me

"See there you go - how does it make you feel! It makes me feel proud."

Dang, no response to whether or not he's singing some falsetto on the new album. Oh well. Maybe at the very least someones eyes (Jeff's? lol) saw it and planted a seed.

Not disgust - indifference, I'd say. Also, he answered it referring to present times.

He's obviously not going to answer my stupidly long question about his transitioning from writing for keyboards to synthesizers but it would be awesome if he did! I should've made it shorter...
