Google collected data of Google Play Music users to create a "Music Timeline" based on how many users  have an artist or album in their music library.

Here's how they collected and analyzed data in more details:
https://music-timeline.appspot.com/about.html

This is the breakdown for the boys:

Nothing surprising really, but it gets more interesting when you zoom out and you compare against other bands and genres.

I find it interesting. I am kind of surprised at how much mord popular Pet Sounds is to everything else. I expected the surf/car era to be close if nog more popular. Than with the Beatles it was the early years that was most popular with a small decline after Help. Interesting. I wish it had a vertical chart of sales.

Shouldn't there be a bigger line in the late 80s with Kokamo?

That is interesting, but, I'm wondering if they used YouTube accounts for favorites, or playlists as well?  I'm a little (a lot, really) afraid of their privacy policy (or lack, thereof.)

One way to do it is to click on "Music Timeline" on the top right, then make your way by clicking on "Pop" and then "60's".
