While Brian often recycled his own ideas over and over again, I find it more interesting when BB members recycle other members' ideas/riffs.

This seems particularly notable with Brian/Dennis borrowing/recycling riffs + lyrics from each other, but there seem to be some of these even with other BB members too, and often filtering into each others' solo material.

Some that come to mind:

- Dennis borrowing Brian's "Child is Father of the Man" riff in "Little Bird" + "Time"

- Brian borrowing Dennis' "Dreamer" lyrical idea "They couldn't get to heaven in their car" for his own "Let's Go to Heaven in My Car"

- Apparently Brian borrowed some musical riff/melody of Dennis' for a song on BB88 (someone clue me in on this? I can't recall what songs were involved)

- Carl borrowing Brian's wordless vocal melody from "You Still Believe in Me" at the end of "Brian's Back" (although since Brian apparently had some involvement in a version of "Brian's Back", maybe it was actually Brian's idea to do this?)

Anybody have more?

I know Brian used the River Song's "Rollin roll on Rollin River" on Rio Grande.

Never heard the Dreamer part in Let's Go to Heaven...but I do hear Dennis' San Miguel on Brian's Sweet Insanity favorite Someone To Love.

Mike borrowing Fun Fun Fun, Surfin' USA, and I Get Around for every Beach Boys song he's written post-1970?

I don't know if you are referring to this, but "Melt Away" reminds me an awful lot of a combination of "Moonshine" and the tag to "Farewell My Friend".

Some believe Please Let Me Wonder is borrowed on Al's San Simion.
Also, some have said Brian borrowed Belles of Paris/Christmas for On Christmas Day.

Also, take your pick of borrowed riffs and melodies on Al's PT Cruiser.

Also also, to these ears, Brian's version of I've Got Plenty of Nuttin' sounds somewhat like Dennis' Smile era song: I Don't Know.

Has anyone noticed that the musical intro on the new version of It's OK from MIC is pretty much the same riff that's on Some Of Your Love?

While Brian often recycled his own ideas over and over again, I find it more interesting when BB members recycle other members' ideas/riffs.

- Dennis borrowing Brian's "Child is Father of the Man" riff in "Little Bird" + "Time"

Didn't Brian actually produce and arrange that Child Is Father Of The Man part into "Little Bird" for the Friends LP but decided to remain uncredited? I read that somewhere, maybe Desper.

Another funny thread idea would be to point out how many times the "Shortenin Bread" riff makes an appearance. I laugh when I listen to "Too Much Sugar" and when it turns into Shortenin Bread for a brief moment towards the end.

And I just realized: listen to the single version of Cottonfields from 2:15-2:25. There's that Child of Winter riff again (I guess its first ever BB appearance?)
PS Adam - loved the live montage of this riff at the Brennan's show!
