So, let me get this straight... I knew that Brian used LSD around the time of California Girls, but Mike didn't find out until the reunion tour?

You may have missed it but you can listen to the interview there which has the typical questions and answers about the music and touring. And it has the interviewers bringing up the drug issues.

Nothing to see here.

Perhaps what Mike meant is that he wasn't aware that Brian was on LSD when he created the music for "California Girls."  He may have been aware that Brian experimented with it, but not that it was specifically linked to a creation of a specific piece of music months before "Smile" even began. I've read different things that Brian has said over the years about creating "California Girls," and he's sometimes said pot was involved, but other times LSD. Specifically, he said the intro to the song was an LSD hallucination where the musical notes appeared to him in 3D, or something along those lines. Perhaps he'd never told Mike that personally until the last tour. It also could have been an attempt to show Mike that some good came out of his drug use. After all, Mike can't object to "California Girls."

Oh, so you're the people who get to censor what I post. I was wondering who they were.

Look., if you're that bored with the interviews or news stories I post, don't read them.  Mike talked to an interviewer. It was in my newsfeed and I shared it. It's not my fault that AGD's topic generated a 34 page pissing match.  And, before you accuse me of having a go at Mike, I have also shared Al's interviews and started the Brian biopic thread because I thought Beach Boys fans might actually be interested in the things that are in the news currently. You know, as opposed to just dissecting every note of the 15th take of some vocal fragment recorded in the summer of '66 in Dennis' girlfriend's basement or something.

This "discussion forum" has a curious way of shutting down any actual discussion. If it's not argumentative around here, it's dismissive.

That's something of a low blow.... It might be ironic to Mike that Brian stayed rich for so many decades off his efforts to a large extent and now gets treated like a God for basically showing up and doing nothing..... Nah, Mike know's the work he's put in. He'z not shimmering.
