Author Topic: What would you consider to be the worst song of all-time?  (Read 45114 times)

With the release of the dreadfully gag inducing "Chinese Food" by Alison Gold (View here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wWLhrHVySgA) a few days ago, discussions of what may be the worst song ever started yet again, with many saying this is the worst ever.
In my opinion, I'm sure I've heard worse, but I can understand the people's views.
I have yet to decide what I personally believe to be the worst song of all-time, but I would be very interesting in seeing your opinion on the worst

This is just as hard as picking a single "best" song of all time.

Some nominations:
Moulty - The Barbarians
Honey - Bobby Goldsboro
Never Been to Me - Charlene
and perhaps the winner:
We Are NEVER EVER EVER EVERRRR Getting Back TOGETHERRRRR! - Taylor Swift?

But seriously, what with songwriting in the Top 40 mostly having dried up, I'd have to wade through a ton of new shitty tracks to find the absolute worst. Not worth it.

James Blunt - "You're Beautiful". The most overplayed, gag inducing, soppy, annoying piece of sh*t song ever written by anyone from now until the end of time. Naturally, chicks love it.

Even Flow: Pearl Jam

Everything that is bad about everything is in that song.

I love Moulty! Gimme a big dumb simple 3 chord anthemic chorus about a one-handed drummer and I'm happy.

That song that whines about wanting to get lost in your rock n' roll makes me want to kill people, tho. I never, ever, EVER want to get lost in your rock n' roll.

I hope that's clear, "Drift Away."

Hated it tremendously back then. Still do. Naturally my wife loves it.

"Take The Long Way Home" by Supertramp. The only word I can think of to describe this song is "disgusting". Just... Really gross. Another contender would probably be "Love Today" by MIKA. Heard that on the radio the other day and nearly destroyed it.

Paul Anka's "You're Having My Baby" is maybe tied with the aforementioned Dennis Wilson song

It's impossible to name only 1 song, so...:

1/ Psy - "Gangnam Style" (ridiculous how it set the record as the most viewed on Youtube);
2/, 3/ The Rip Chords - "Bonneville Bonnie", "Old Car Made in 52" (super-boring stuff, glad the band got rid of that singer ==> pale copy of Elvis);
4/ A dreck called "Just Can't Get Enough" by some unidentified singer (heard it in the washing machine commercial & radio where it's been heavily rotated at one time);
5/ Madonna's "gem" with Spanish words;
6/ The Ronettes' "Be My Baby" (vastly overrated, what people find great about this drag is a mystery);
7/ "10 Little Indians" by Harry Nilsson (generally, I'm not that much into Nilsson & I never liked his voice, but this is hands down the worst thing he ever sang)

8/ James Blunt - "You're Beautiful".
The tune is certainly a garbage. Really, the guy should change his last name to Bland, it perfectly describes his music & uncool howling mannerisms.

Now I'll listen to others' 'unfavorites'. Sth. tells me at least 5 of them will be good to my ears.

Even if Be My Baby isn't the best song ever (who ever claimed that, anyway, other than Brian) it certainly isn't the worst.

No he should keep the surname Blunt because it rhymes with a certain word that I instantly think of every time I hear his crappy music.

I'm a fan of Blunty. I love that first album [Though You're Beautiful I hate with a passion]. Wisemen is a great track.

Adrian Baker's cover of Sherry is deeply disturbing.
