I love this footage so very much.  In fact, I downright treasure it!

The only thing in a similar (albeit entirely hypothetical) vein I think I could ever appreciate more would be film of the Beatles recording "Strawberry Fields Forever" in Abbey Road, but that's neither here nor there.

From where I stand, for the purposes of the Beach Boys, the uncovering of these particular moving pictures was tantamount to unearthing the Holy Grail.  Bonus points for the way in which the band utilized the footage during the live renditions of "Good Vibrations" on the C50 tour, as well.

Not that anyone asked, but as a personal aside, Andrew, I have to say that I really like this side of you - the fan coming out of you.  It's much more endearing than that 'crotchety old man with a hard-on for correcting people' act you like to put on.  :D

Yes, you're much more charming this way, methinks.

Although I couldn't give a crap what Rolling Stone thinks, they did rank Good Vibrations as the 6th best song of all time. It ranked higher than any Beatles' song (with the exception of John Lennon's Imagine).
Still bewildering.

Anyway, this footage is a treasure. Brian looks so FREAKIN' COOL!! They all did, actually.

Thanks very much for posting this again, Andrew...it would be hard to imagine how impoverished life would be without this perfectly transcendent piece of "avant garde R&B." A gift that keeps on giving and will never stop doing so...

Andrew,

It doesn't get better than this! Thanks for reminding us all!

"It's more blessed to give than receive"

“For me, making music has always been a very spiritual thing, and I think anybody who produces records has to feel that, at least a little bit. Producing a record . . . the idea of taking a song, envisioning the overall sound in my head and then bringing the arrangement to life in the studio . . . well, that gives me satisfaction like nothing else.”

"Yeah, well, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man."
