And Micha, congrats on coming from the country that gave us the greatest music ever written

And the worst, too, considering what I had to hear in that discotheque on Saturday just before I fled. Shocked

What do you consider the best music ever written? To me it's the BBs and John Williams that gave us the most awesome music ever.

BTW what's the point of Hitler jokes anyway? As I said, he's been dead for nearly 70 years, and there's been far worse people before and since (most notably Stalin). Maybe if he died 20 years ago, I can understand. Maybe if he was the worst man in history, then I can understand. But it's been 68 years, and there have been worse. So why the continuous Hitler jokes?

I've thought about your question. I think it's because his mannierisms and looks are pretty unique. Stalin looks much more normal, and I can't think of any special Stalin gestures, nor do I think I ever heard the tone of his voice. Mussolini would be another candidate for good spoofing, as seen in "The Great Dictator".

Stephen, I think I got the motivation behind your Mike Hitler picture and had to laugh when I saw it. But be careful about it, it is funny if you see in in context of this thread, but without that context it is pretty offensive.

It's all in the context. You can get away with anything in the name of satire.

And Micha, congrats on coming from the country that gave us the greatest music ever written

Is this your channel?
http://www.youtube.com/user/bluesno1fann/videos

Because it's all Hitler videos!

BUSTED, it is his channel. There are Beach Boys and Monty Python videos on there too. But mostly Hitler.

okay, let me explain. For a while, i was into Downfall parodies. But it wasn't because of mocking Hitler. I was drawn into it by the Downfall Parody universe, and the character called Fegelein and his antics. Plus I was very impressed by the talents of the "untergangers", the artistry and work impressed me greatly. Not for the purpose of mocking Hitler at all. I find mocking Hitler to be annoying and unneccasary.
In any case, I retired from that universe a while ago. Aside from one reply to a comment not too long ago, NO, it's not mostly Hitler. In fact, there's barely none. And even when I released my last Downfall Parody in early July, I had all but lost interest. In other words, it was a passing trend.

Well, Stalin was a paranoid freak who hid during the majority of his reign. Hiding and killing thousands a day. But I get your point.
Then there's Idi Amin...

I love this thread but the Hitler stuff isn't funny. Mr. Mike Love, if you're listening, here's one Beach Boys' fan who will NEVER compare you to Hitler.

That was kind of the point if you  read the caption. Look on any Beach Boy related video on youtube and there'll be some idiot seriously comparing him to Hitler.  I was mocking those people

I (reluctantly) apologise if this offended anyone though. I'm English. It's cultural. We started laughing at Hitler during the war as a morale thing and it's stuck.

Personally I think laughing at him is a better guard against it happening again than brushing it under the carpet and pretending it never happened.

Cue Basil Falwty

I was making a bit of a joke myself. Pledging not to compare someone to Hitler/damning with faint praise, etc.

Say, anybody have any more weird pics of Mike Love? Or are we gonna ride on outrage fumes for another day or two?

Yer all making Mike look like he's about to cry!

On second thought, he kinda always looks like that.

I say we extend each other a liver-spotted hand of friendship.

...or maybe he's referring to this type of German absurdist / dadaist music from the 1980s:

Little known fact: Mike's incredibly hairy hands were used for a beloved series of ads for Italian biscuit company Sergione Infuso.

I keep thinking something's bound to go wrong.

I hope you didn't think I was going to make an Albert Speer joke here.

I have it on good authority that Leni Riefenstahl directed the vid recording from which that still was taken.

Don't tell anyone, ontor. Loose lips sink ships.

Mike considers maybe NOT being in a room with Brian.

After all, he can write songs himself using only a tambourine.
