This one quite cheered me up. Thanks, Judd!

Watched this for like 30 seconds & am still not sure if it's Eric Idle from The Rutles or not. Going by logic, possibly not, since both of them come from different circles.

As good as this thread is (some of the captions are really funny), I find most of these photos ordinary, not in the least "weirdest", as the title declares. Why the OP named it like this - I don't know.

As the progenitor of this study into the aesthetic of Mike Love, I put it to you that the man is in no way ordinary.

I love this thread.  This is the kind of Mike bashing that I like, I really do. So good OSD is banned by now...

My favorite picture:

Mike looks like "Wha... what happened? Where am I? How did I get here?

Funniest caption:

Hilarious! Grin

Second funniest caption:

This however I find offensive:

Ein Volk, Ein Reich, Ein Love

Please refrain from Hitler comparisons.

I meant to use a Goebbels reference but it got all Hitlered up. Don't you hate it when that happens? It's my struggle, I guess.

Maybe we Germans are a bit more sensitive about this subject, maybe too much so, I don't know. Comparing people with Hitler is a no-go here, you can ruin your public career if you do so in Germany. Feel free to find those comparisons inoffensive with no ill feeling against you from me, but I do find those offensive.

Whereas in America, Hitler humor is pretty much a proud industry. Many families put food on the table with Hitler humor! Conan O'Brien was able to finance his haircuts with two decades of Hitler jokes...

Let's chalk it up to cultural differences and agree to disagree. Altho, my family is still a bit annoyed at Germany for putting my grandfather in the camps. It almost ruined his public career! He managed to get out, worked on Madison Avenue for a good stretch, and made sure all us kids watched The Great Dictator. I'll refrain from parting my hair in a severe manner while visiting Germany and quoting certain episodes of Fawlty Towers, but on the Internet -- yeah, it gets a BIT Hitler at times. So you're going to be offended once in a while.

Now back to Mike Love -- always offensive, already in progress.

To sum it up, they blew it, they blew it consistently, they continue to blow it, it is tragic and this pathological problem caused The Beach Boys' greatest music to be so underrated by the general public.

I had a dream about Mike Love last night. It was a dream where Mike and Carnie Wilson hosted a successful TV talk show together.

The closest photo of Mike and Carnie I could find was when he performed with Cal Saga at the Grammy Museum. I recall Carnie being interviewed about Mike back then and saying they like to cuss at each other for fun. Maybe that made my brain think they'd make a good talk show team (it was a sort of an argumentative format  talk show in my dream).
