Post Release MIC Track Discussion

Ok its late at night for me, I'm only going by an hour or so of listening to a few of my own selection's from a complete Spotify version, plus whatever has been released this last week which has been the live stuff.
I've been concentrating on the live cuts mainly for a dose of some Carl Wilson brilliance.
Wow!
After the many discussions about auto-tune on the C50 products, it is beautiful to hear his voice
live
again UNTOUCHED.
Vegetables is a great little track and Carl's leads on Wonderful, I Can Hear Music are exceptional to these ears, but enjoy them all.

Lucky You!
Here in Australia, only selected tracks - luckily that includes "Wouldn't It Be Nice to Live Again" - are available on Spotify.
In fact out of disc 6 for example, only two tracks are available!

So we kick your a*s in rugby and Spotify on the same day. Sweet!
No sign of samples yet on iTunes, which is a surprise.

It's About Time live is sheer brilliance. Could they rock or what? Amazing performance. Ricky was a great drummer.

A bit silly, actually, but this song does deserve to be a bit longer.

That one bored me a bit - I think the best rocker of the live stuff is All I Want To Do, to me their second best live performance after What'd I Say.

Doesn't it go into some lyrics sung by Brian about "have you ever seen a puppy with his head on his brother? Have you ever...…"?

Have you ever seen a pony run alongside of his mother?
And have you ever seen a puppy dog laying his head on his brother?

Can't we all just stop discussing MIC? I've been desperately trying to hear the new stuff all day long without success. Proxies, VPNs, creating new Spotify accounts, bribing people in the know, etc. etc. Nothing works!
Where's the crying smiley?!

Having Soul Searchin' and You're Still a Mystery officially released is one of the greatest things about MIC.
Still a Mystery is a classic for the ages.

So, wow. California Feelin '74. The missing link.
I'm very impressed with Brian's piano playing here. It's a lot different from his usual "banging on chords" style.
His voice is clearly affected, but not quite in 15 BO territory yet. It still has a soft, high tone to it. He goes into falsetto a few times here, and it has that Sunflower-esque whine which was gone by '76.
Man he must've really been destroying his vocal cords in early '75. Because his voice here is not nearly as bad as I thought it would've been.

"Why" features one of BW's coolest, most beautiful, and most interesting chord progressions ever.
It's a f*cking crime that it never had vocals recorded to it.
That said, it's so good that you can pretty much consider it a song by itself. Grateful for this one.

I'm really knocked out by these performances. I'd never heard any live recordings from 1968 prior to this but they really do these songs justice. They even have the banjo on "Little Bird"... Great stuff.
