Lot's of energy, but I can't hear the solos, per se, and they seem to be confused about the solo section--who would be featured and play what part. Backing vocals and theramin sound best. A generally sloppy jam, like at the end of RR hall of fame shows. . . .nothing special.

Anyone else think Blondie sounded like sh*t in that clip? I honestly think Cowsill is doing the superior version atm.

I'd say "less than stellar"... Actually I did.

Thanks for the link. Brian looks so much like his dad in some of those shots.

Brian looks on the verge of a wardrobe malfunction.  Shocked

Though I think it's an optical illusion (it looks like the button placket has an orange tag on the bottom, unless that really is a tiny portion of his belly).

I've got to say, although Brian's shirts aren't always the greatest, I like the way he pulls back the cuffs giving extra colour. Very psychedelic taste imo. I'm actually jealous of some of his smarter shirts which have these cuffs!

I think they're Robert Graham brand shirts. The Beach Boys wore those contrasting cuff, colorful shirts for the C50 tour. Brian may have some left over.

I think that's the exact moment he finds out there isn't enough time for Cotton Fields.

And production aside, I’d so much rather hear a 14 year old David Marks shred some guitar on Chug-a-lug than hear a 51 year old Mike Love sing about bangin some chick in a swimming pool.-rab2591

To improve fidelity, cut out the following image and glue it to the lower right hand corner of your monitor.

A must buy DVD--no brainer.  It will have to be their regular set being filmed as Brian already released a live Pet Sounds performance when he did the first tour.  This should make a very interesting DVD!

I'll be first in line to get that if it's not totally abysmal like the DVD releases from the 50th reunion.

How on earth they screwed that one up I'll never know.

Yeah, hope they do Cottonfields, Little Bird, Til I Die, Blondie's two songs. Not just the same old hits.

Though there is no indication on Brian's website that Blondie wwill be there.

Here's another review of the LA Greek Theater show, this one from the Orange County Register:
http://www.ocregister.com/soundcheck/wilson-532222-beck-one.html

Really enjoyed seeing Blondie on stage.  (I've seen him as a backing musician with the Stones a number of times, but it's been 40 years since I last saw him with the BBs.)

Brian was very upbeat and into the show.  Loved the long standing ovation for Brian after God Only Knows.

Having seen BW perform the complete Pet Sounds album a few times I would have preferred a regular set list for the evening, featuring some more Al and Dave.  As mentioned previously, during the concert there was no mention that they were performing all of the Pet Sounds album in order.  It would have been cool to hear David sing Little Bird, especially since Steve Kalinich was in the audience.

BW's and JB's bands performing Our Prayer followed by Surf's Up, accompanied by a cool video projection of a church stained glass window with light shining through, was one of the highlights for me.

Easily one of if not THE highlight of the night.  The band and Brian locked right in and they all knew it.

Does anyone have a detailed review or any comments whatsoever about the Oakland Paramount show last night? I was GREATLY saddened that I was unable to attend.

Haven't seen much yet, apologies for not getting back to you sooner -- was editing stuff at the last minute!

There is this tho:

http://www.sfgate.com/music/article/Jeff-Beck-Brian-Wilson-review-perfect-harmony-4920742.php

"But whatever idea was behind the coupling of Wilson and Beck, these two musicians and their accompanists brought immense musicality and a serious sense of enterprise to the collaboration, and the result was a unique, unexpected and thoroughly satisfying evening of great music."

A moment of indecision for Alan Jardine: should I clap or point?

Thanks for that Ontor, better than nothing (marginally). Selvin is a sycophantic, sanctimonious local journalist who has recycled his flowery, generalized style innumerable times and written basically the same review for every local BW concert or Beach Boys-related news story that has ever taken place here. I was hoping someone might have a more detail-oriented account of the show, whether they were "on" last night, little anomalies or quirky moments, etc. and feel inclined to share.

Yeah, that was an incredibly content-free review... At least there's the DVD -- I wonder what shows are being shot?
