So far just a mention of the encore featuring Surfin' USA, Barbara Ann, Fun Fun Fun, Danny Boy with Beck.

People should be getting home now, a good time for a rough setlist to emerge!

Ah, here's a setlist clue. Al's Coffeehouse Folk Korner is still in SESSION:

from a fella on BW.com's board:

"In no particular order...

California Girls
Do It Again
Surfin' USA
Surfer Girl
Little Deuce Coupe
Shut Down
I Get Around
Do You Wanna Dance
Barbara Ann
Help Me Rhonda
Fun, Fun, Fun
In My Room
Ol' Man River/Cottonfields
Sail On, Sailor (w/Blondie)
Heroes And Villians
Then I Kissed Her
Summertime Blues (David Marks)
That's Why God Made The Radio
God Only Knows
Sloop John B.
Wouldn't It Be Nice
Good Vibrations
Our Prayer
Surf's Up (with Jeff Beck.... no lead vocals, just guitar.... with rest of band doing backing ooh's, etc)
Don't Talk (same as Surf's Up)

Jeff Beck's set...  I couldn't tell you the setlist.... Honestly, I am not a Jeff Beck fan, and didn't recognize any of it.   (Except for a cover of A Day In The Life.).... This show did not convert me.   Some of the mellower stuff I liked...  But overall, I found myself staring at my watch A LOT.   Too much guitar wankery for my personal liking.   I'd rather have heard another hour of Brian.   "

He's editing to add more bits ranting about Jeff Beck, so I'm guessing we get to do that here for a few months too. Oh goodie.

Curious to hear what any VIP moneybags types say they are working up in soundcheck. LIKE THE NEW STUFF. You can't tease me by going surf expressionist with "Metropolis," pinch a title from Kraftwerk and Fritz Lang and then NOT PLAY IT. Hmpf...

Altho:

Our Prayer / Surf's Up / Don't Talk. Man I want to hear a nice version of that this weekend somewhere without someone coughing or complaining about parking on the right side of the stereo field.

Yes indeed. Honestly, there is very little that excites me about that list of songs. Surf's Up & Don't Talk are unique...but Brian isn't even singing them!

I'm a hopeless partisan, just the mention of Sail On, Sailor with freakin' BLONDIE singing it makes it sound like a fun night out! But I really hope they spark off some chemistry between the two bands and play together more and switch songs around over the course of the tour so there's some interesting developments and odd one offs. Let's see some inventive setlists, Doktor Von Mertens!

Little Bird! Bring back Little Bird.

On the other hand, another bw forum fella delurks to say: "Then, he is joined by BW band and they perform an amazing version of Surfs Up - Simply amazing - blows away the 50th anniversary tour in 7mins! Surfs Up was just bliss! Words can't explain. "

Yeah, it's hard not to get excited about a chance to hear this rendition of it live.

Another song!

From Probyn's facebook, a fan posted:

"Jeff Beck just did "How High the Moon" with Probyn Gregory and Jeffrey Foskett"

Wow!  People can dispute their favorite Beach Boys falsetto guy but the thing I love most about Jeff is his normal, full voice, tenor and it sounds like he'll be using it on this tour!  The more we hear, the more you can see how much the guys on stage must be loving this stuff.  We'll like it no matter what so it's real nice to see them stretching themselves on this trek.

Just got back from the show. What was posted above as the set list was it. Being my first BW show (had only seen the BBs twice during the 50th tour), I was a bit disappointed with the generic set list. Was hoping to hear some more obscure stuff and I was I wish Little Bird would have stayed in the set. SOS was awesome and he came back out for Surfin' USA and FFF. I met him in the casino after the show and he was really nice.

Our Prayer/Surf's Up/Don't Talk was great. I wish they would have done some more BB tunes like this. I'll admit I know nothing about Jeff Beck. He was very good but it was an odd pair in my opinion. I'd say the majority of the people at the show were there for Jeff Beck. He got much bigger crowd responses and I overheard multiple people during intermission mentioned how they were there for Beck and not really into The Beach Boys. My girlfriend looked at me 5 songs into Jeff's set and said that she really hoped Brian and his band were coming back out.

Yeah, that sounds terrific about "How High the Moon" and I hope they do a LOT more of that over the next two months and mix things up more. Make it really special and fun for the musicians too to make some glorious new noises together.

This is obviously a Mark Twain paint the white fence ploy and I secretly mean: the Wilson band must overrun Beck's sets slowly and surely, winding it's Fosketty tentacles around one song and another until Darian is doing Yardbirds songs and Jeff Beck is in a white suit pointing at Al Jardine instead.

Brian Wilson: "Gee Jeff, we really should do Marcella together too."

Jeff Beck: "During my set, right?"

Brian Wilson: "I... want to make a rock n roll record."

Fly, monkeys, fly. Casually tell Beck backstage he should join them on a suite of car songs using a wah pedal slammed down to it's most nasal to stand in for Mike Love.

Double, double toil and trouble;
    Fire burn, and Jardine bubble.
 Scale of dragon; tooth of wolf;
    Witches' mummy; maw and gulf
you f*ckers better play some "Wild Honey"
or I'll spend slightly less money.

Pretty badass show I must say! I will admit to being a tad disappointed with the rather predictable setlist (was hoping for Marcella, Little Bird, or at least PLMW) but really, it's hard to complain after seeing Blondie *knock* it outta the park on SOS, and Marks doing Summertime Blues was also a treat. Al's voice was spot-on and he does an admirable job as a sort of de-facto frontman for the band. Brian sounded pretty good despite royally goofing up CG (seemed like it caught him off-guard when they started it).

Jeff's set was very cool, he handles a guitar like no other player I've seen and has a crackerjack band that he made some seriously interesting sounds with. Was hoping for more collaboration between him and the Boys, though Surf's Up and Don't Talk were truly fantastic. Glad to see his rendition of Day in the Life close the set. Encore was the usual BA/SU/FFF trio with Beck spicing it up a bit with some neat solos, and the closing rendition of Danny Boy was quite nice. Afterwords I was able to snag the second half of the setlist, briefly meet David and chat with Bob L. and Darian which was a pleasure.

I definitely expect to see the on-stage collaboration grow throughout the tour, and maybe a couple of deep BB cuts sneaking their way into the first set. Great show all around, not one to miss if you're a fan of Beck.

Thanks for the report!

How was the arrangement of Danny Boy? Who handled the vox? They mentioned this as being something worked on for the upcoming album and I'd love to hear it's got some rich BW harmony going on!

Here's Beck twanging away at it with Imelda May: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4lAIcNF8rdE

It's going to be very entertaining seeing how this develops.

Beck/Marks guitar interlacing on Pet Sounds to open set two, hmm?

Yeah, but backing vox and chanting ooh ah, yes? Cmon we all love wordless vocal oo ahhh.

if there's no backing vocals at least, someone could casually start slipping Beck some laxative before showtime to cut his sets desperately short. Of course, pro that he is he may soldier on, secure in Depends if slightly saggier.

I really can't get over Blondie's guest spot, however brief it was. His voice has deepened a lot but sounds so damn powerful, hope someone got it on a decent video tonight.

Was he just there for "Sail on sailor" or did he do any more numbers with them?

PRO SHOT BEACH BOYS CONCERTS - LIST

To sum it up, they blew it, they blew it consistently, they continue to blow it, it is tragic and this pathological problem caused The Beach Boys' greatest music to be so underrated by the general public.
