In the near future we have:

A Brian Wilson solo album
A Brian Wilson autobiography
A full length movie on Brian Wilson
And most likely a large(r) scale tour.

Can we expect a big push to get Brian Wilson into the spotlight?
The support of Jeff Beck certainly won't hurt either. What if Brian is accepted by mainstream audiences?
Beach Boys history is still being written here.

I highly doubt this, though it depends on what you refer to as "mainstream".

Yes, they're going to market him as the new Justin Beiber. Time to dig out those leather trousers.

If Love & Mercy (the movie) starts winning Oscars we can expect "getting in over my head" to suddenly be topping the billboard charts

According to someone who would know.

Seriously, there was a Beach Boys Love You condom?!  Amazing.

So do I. But what if Brian's album got to #1? TWGMTR went to #3, and though that was on the Beach Boys name, Brian can be easily marketed as "The genius of The Beach Boys supported by Jeff Beck!"
A big commercial push is something I can see happening.

Brian's solo shot at #1 was in 1988.

Is there still a "mainstream" in music?

Anyway, wherever this perhaps mythical mainstream is, Jeff Beck, who was last commercially relevant during his jazz fusion era in the mid-70's, will be of no help to Brian in locating it.

Shady's got a point (he might have been joking but whatevs) - if the biopic is at least a moderate commercial success and/or comes anywhere near Oscar territory (which is kinda unlikely but not impossible given that a few people involved have been nominated for Oscars before), Brian might be getting some more mainstream attention. But I don't really think there's any way he'll be gettin' down with the kids in the near future.

How commercial is Jeff Beck? Besides his 2010 album which reached number 11 on the Billboard charts, His albumms going back to 1989 hit numbers 110, 99, 171, and 49.

I say who cares?  This is all for fans like us, we should embrace it rather than worry what everybody else is going to think.

As far as pushing Brian into the "mainstream"....not gonna happen, and he sure as hell doesn't want it anyway.

As for Oscar possibilities, it's very possible they might ask Brian to contribute a new song for the film which would make easy award bait for "Best Original Song" depending on its quality.

I think some of these things may turn out cool, but I have a wait and see attitude about any Brian solo stuff. The recent BAD tour was indeed very good though.

Brian is planning a rock'n'roll album, innit? So Jeff Beck is ideal to give the album some much needed bite. Don't forget Jeff Beck was the hitmaker for Yardbirds, one of the greatest British Invasion bands ever! It's not all inaccesible jazz rock, proof of that can be heard on Crazy Legs, his tribute album to Cliff Gallup.

This I agree with. The Beach Boys were still very visible at this time, due to recent semi-hits like Getcha Back, California Dreamin', Wipe Out, the 4th of July concerts, and a general upsurge of interest in the 60's. Yet despite all the promotional push Sire/Warners could muster, BW88 failed to reach the top of the charts - most of the press about Brian in 1988 was more focused on the Landy thing.

Time for a Brian-Selena Gomez-Pink-Kanye-Pitbull-Little Wayne collaboration. Bring on the generic techno beats, cliche tennybopper lyrics, brickwall compression, and autotune, autotune, and more autotune.

What if Brian is accepted by mainstream audiences?

This is something we all – especially the mods – need to be fully prepared for.

Expect a flood of new board members, and lots of posts along the lines of:

"I'm Brians biggest erev fan and have everything he recorded except GIOMH, Pet Sounds, 88 and the Smile Boxset… oh and all the Reprise/Warners albums. Someone help me out with MP3s or tell me where I can download them for free?Huh?   Grin"

"I love Brian Wilson  and his band is the best ever I live in Halifax and I'd travel anywhere to see them but £35 for a ticket and in brighouse it's not even on our bus route greedy mellindy"

"brian should come live with me… I have birthday cake;"

"brian's a genius. Why can't mark linnitt make him sound as good as he desurves"

"please, please, tell us more oldsurferdude"

"i read that his new album sounds like pet sounds - wow  can't wait. my favourite pet sounds track is youres o good to me. they didn't even play there own instruments".

"the capitol stuff's okay but the best stuff he recorded during that erra was Remember the Zoo – trust me, when you hear it you'll love it."
