"Our Team" documentary origin?

Trying to watch (sadly in poor quality) this interesting documentary, does anyone know what purpose this doc was made for? Was it something that aired on TV originally, or was it an EPK of sorts?

There's GOT to be a good quality source, right?

Not the era the band currently wishes to relive, I'm sure, but it really should get the official DVD treatment.

Not the era the band currently wishes to relive, I'm sure, but it really should get the official DVD treatment.

 

My recollection is that it was produced in house to promote the album, but any pursuit of airing it was dropped once the album tanked. That's the supposed story anyway.

All circulating copies are murky as far as I know. There is no doubt a pristine copy in the Beach Boys vault.

I was just going to make a thread about this topic. I've always wondered about it too. Does the fact that it was named Our Team mean that the song was being seriously considered for something? Or was that the working title for the album that became MIU?
